Yet what Conrad did not know was that the real Lord Babbit of the Reyne family had died, and the current Babbit was just a clone of Edmund.
Conrad had pledged his loyalty to Edmund but did not know any of Edmund''s secrets. The honest truth was that Edmund hardly saw Conrad as a loyal servant either. Someone so happily willing to abandon their ally in a battle could not be trusted.
Edmund was only epting of Conrad because he felt Conrad could be used. Conrad''s biggest wish was to battle Babbit one day and then take over his power.
To Conrad, doing so would raise his status and even make him more powerful than the City Lord of Babbit, but such a n was practicallyughable to Edmund. It was simply impossible.
Why would Edmund make an enemy out of himself? However, that could be a tactic to control Conrad. Edmund had not fully recovered yet, and he had been stoking the mes between Wilbur and Dalton to get rid of Wilbur.
With the state Wilbur was in, there was no way he would be any match for Dalton. The Dragon yer Organization woulde looking for Edmund eventually, and he might not be able to hold his own against them alone. However, teaming up with Conrad might buy him some time.
After all, three months was not really that long of a time. Once the three months were over, Edmund would still be the City Lord of Buck Town and haveplete control, while Wilbur would be dead.
Over on the outskirts of Buck Town, snow fell from the heavens to the ground. There were still a few hundred meters to the town gates, and there was no one else in sight.
Felix stopped in his tracks, turning around to look at Wilbur and Augheimer. "Change your appearance now. We''ll return to the Chris family grounds, and we don''t want to attract any unwanted attention."
Knowing that Dalton''s older brother was Lord Hadirt of Tevinter Town, the three men had decided to have Wilbur and Augheimer keep their real identities hidden to avoid being hunted down.
Felix would return to the Chris family grounds alone so that Hadirt would not know where Wilbur was once news of Dalton''s death reached Tevinter Town. Hadirt would just think that Wilbur and Dalton both died at Pulsa Lake.
Of course, that was the best oue they had in mind. Now that they were about
to reach Buck Town, Wilbur and Augheimer went ahead first. Felix waited for a little over ten minutes before going in.
After returning to the Chris family grounds, Felix snuck into the courtyard while no one was looking. He opened the back door, letting Wilbur and Augheimer into the quarters.
"Thank you, Senior Horne."
Felix said, "There''s no need for that, Master. You two are going to head to the Vermillion Bird Mountains at once, where you will cultivate for the next ten years. Do note out no matter what happens. I''ll send you food periodically."
"What about after that, though?" asked Augheimer. "What cane out of cultivating for ten years, that''s way too short!"
"It''s really not," said Wilbur. "One year out here is a thousand years in my mirror dimension."
"What?" Augheimer was shocked. "Are you serious, Wilbur?"
