"W-What?"
Firton got down on one knee at once. "No, of course not! I just think that Wilbur and Felix aren''t experienced enough, and other cultivators will not like that they''re given so much power."
"They can very well talk to me, then! Wilbur and Felix were the only ones to help me when Mike ambushed me just now. Where were the rest of you? The Reyne family might have its rules, but it would be nothing if its members only cared about themselves instead of their leader!"
"I..."
"That''s enough, Firton. Felix, you''re the new head of the Chris family. Wilbur, you''re the new Senior Guard. You two will head to the family grounds and assume your positions once we leave and take over the family together. I want a detailed report on all of Buck Town''s instion systems and sources."
The Chris family controlled the Vermillion Bird Mountains and were in charge of heating and instion for Buck Town. They made a good amount of money over this over the years. Wilbur and Felix got down on one knee immediately. "Yes, Lord Babbit."
While packing their bags at the Reyne family grounds, Wilbur said, "Senior Horne... the head of the Chris family was just murdered. There''s no way their elders and elites would just surrender to a new leader like that. If anyone stands in the way of you taking control when we get there, I''ll take care of them for you."
"No! Absolutely not!"
Felix was shocked to hear Wilbur''s words. "Master, Dorrah might be dead, but the power structure and systems in the Chris family have not changed in the slightest. They''re sure as hell not about to. Killing their people upon arrival will only turn them further away from us. That''s not good for either of us, you know."
Wilbur gave it some thought. "You''re right, Senior Horne. But we don''t have another way to do this, do we? Are we supposed to take orders from a bunch of old geezers when we get there instead?"
Felix knew what Wilbur was implying and let out a sigh. "We could very well kill anyone who stands in our way of taking over the Chris family if Babbit actually cared about us. He handed one of the Four Great Families to two people who had only joined the Reyne family for a few years, Master. Do you know what this means?"
Wilbur frowned. "That Babbit trusts us?"
"No. It''s theplete opposite. Babbit has started growing suspicious of us. I only understood something just now: Babbit could have killed Mike easily in that battle, but he intentionally let Mike approach him just to test us."
"What?"
"Yes, Master. Think about it. Mike''s a talisman cultivator who can sh Step anywhere his energy aura covers. No one should be able to predict where he would show up next, but you did just that, Master. That means that you might be a dragon n cultivator, something that will bring Babbit trouble for sure. To avoid said trouble, Babbit had no choice but to have you take over the Chris family. I''m sure that he has sent someone to tell their cultivators to challenge us and reveal your identity in doing that."
Realization dawned on Wilbur, and he furrowed his brows. "But I didn''t release any dragon aura throughout the battle, though? Why would Babbit suspect me to be a dragon n cultivator?"
Felix looked rather nervous. "Are you sure about that, Master? Mike''s a talisman cultivator, how could you have sensed where he was without releasing dragon aura?"
