In other words, the Eight Great Families were an exception in Buck Town. The killing would not work upon encountering members of the Eight Great Families. If a member of the Eight Great Families was attacked and killed without them initiating the fight, their respective family would send people to hunt down and kill the assant.
That was precisely why the members of the Eight Great Families had immunity. They had a safe ce in Buck Town with the town tokens granted by the Eight Great Families. They would not be killed as long as they did not provoke others.
Many cultivators went to great lengths to join the Eight Great Families. Unfortunately, the Eight Great Families only select a thousand individuals from the tens of thousands of ves arriving in Buck Town each day. The other ves were not epted unless they possessed exceptional cultivation, managed to survive on their own, ranked as the top ten cultivators of the four major trial grounds, or seeded in the semiannual Guard Tournament.
The Guard Tournament was more challengingpared to the ranking in the four major trial grounds. Ordinary cultivators who came to Buck Town were lucky if they became members of the Eight Great Families. Members were divided into three tiers, and it took several hundred years to have a chance to advance to a higher tier. Above the ves were the servants, and above the servants were the guards.
In other words, the Guard Tournament was merely an opportunity for exceptionally powerful cultivators to join the Eight Great Families. Ordinary cultivators had neither the qualification nor the chance to survive the tournament.
However, both of those options were insignificant for Wilbur. He knew that his cultivation would rapidly improve with the help of the bronze mirror. He previouslycked the opportunity to enter Buck Town, but he was now inside the town.
Having learned about how life was in Buck Town, especially the lives of the ves, Wilbur felt relieved that he had not been chosen by Divan Reyne to be a member of the Reyne family.
Wilbur looked at Thom and said, "That''s right. I did hunt a few beasts and earned some silver coins, but that is money I earned rightfully. Why should I share it with you?"
Thomughed coldly, then threatened, "It looks like you don''t know the rules around here, dude. I''m the freaking eighth-ranked cultivator of the ck Tortoise Trial Grounds. That''s enough for me to kill you, but I''m a reasonable guy, so I''ll let you leave if you hand over five hundred silver coins right now. Otherwise, I''ll kill you!"
Wilbur did not want to get into trouble before saving Felix from Babbit. However, Thom offended Wilbur with his arrogance.
"Ha, the eighth-ranked cultivator of the ck Tortoise Trial Grounds, eh? How amazing. Too bad I don''t have that many silver coins anymore. How about I give you..."
Thom interrupted when he heard that, "How many silver coins do you have? I''m telling you right now you need to give me at least two hundred silver coins, or I''ll kill you."
Wilbur noticed that Thom was an impatient person, so he purposefully hesitated and smiled. He said, "I do have two hundred silver coins, but I''m only willing to give you one bronze coin."
Wilbur opened his palm as he spoke, showing Thom the single bronze coin in his palm. He smiled and said, "I''ll give this bronze coin to you as a gift. We''re considered friends now."
"What?"
Thom was infuriated and yelled, "You shameless guy! Are you trying to buy my friendship with a single bronze coin? Who do you think you are? Edmund? I''m telling you right now, you arrogant fool! If I don''t kill you today, then I''ll denounce my spot as the eighth-ranked cultivator of the ck Tortoise Trial Grounds!"
Thom flipped his right hand, and a hammer appeared in his grip. He instantly charged at Wilbur with his right hand moving like the wind as he swung the hammer fiercely down at Wilbur''s head.
