Felix stared at Wilbur solemnly. "I''ve finally found the reason why the Eight Great Families have been able to reign supreme in Buck Town for tens of thousands of years without any decline, Master. It''s because of the special aura in the four forbidden grounds-the Azure Dragon Lake, White Tiger Forest, Vermillion Bird Mountains, and ck Tortoise Lake."


    After a brief pause, Felix exined further, "The energy aura in Buck Town is so thin because the energy in these four forbidden locations is controlled by the Eight Great Families. They''ve been able to im these energies as their own and use them to cultivate for thousands of years. It''s terrifying."


    Felix could not help but shake his head at the thought. This had seemed practically impossible when he had first found out about it, but that was the truth.


    Wilbur frowned. "So, the Eight Great Families took over the four energy sources of Buck Town, controlling and absorbing the energy aura thates out of them, leaving whatever''s left to the rest of the town?"


    Felix nodded. "The Eight Great Families are really powerful, Master. I think we should leave Buck Town immediately and head to Walker Town. This isn''t a ce we should return to."


    Wilbur understood what Felix was implying. The Eight Great Families had been cultivating with the energy sources they had hoarded as their own for thousands of years. There might be countless members of the Eight Great Families who were eligible to be upper dimension cultivators but remained in Buck Town.


    That was because they knew that as long as they stayed in Buck Town, they would be able to enjoy the powerful energy aura that radiated from the energy sources. However, if they were to head to the upper dimensions, they would be considered weaklings immediately and be granted a ve position at most.


    No one wanted to be a ve, especially not if they had been used to being in power. The Eight Great Families were the most powerful force in all of Buck Town, one of the major towns of the middle dimensions.


    In fact, the Eight Great Families'' power made up a ninth of the middle dimensions'' total power.


    Wilbur frowned. "But I heard that there were Junior, Middle, and Senior Guards above the heads of the families in the middle dimensions. Can''t they control what''s happening with the four forbidden grounds?"


    Felix sighed. "The Eight Great Families have a deep, well-renowned background in Buck Town, Master. They''re a force no regr guard can just sway. The whole town is practically under their control. Even the City Lord has to listen to them."


    "How are we going to make it to another town, then?" asked Wilbur. "I heard that the portal''s in Buck Town, and it''s guarded by Middle Guards. Some of them are bound to be from the Eight Great Families. We''d be attacked for sure the second we show up in Buck Town."


    To prevent any wanted people or criminals on the run from escaping, there had been a formation set up near the portals of the middle dimensions. It could reveal anyone''s original form, exposing whatever cover or disguise they had put on. That made it practically impossible for Wilbur and Felix to leave Buck Town at all.


    Felix said, "I heard that City Lord Edmund hates that the Eight Great Families have taken all his power away. If we somehow get Lord Edmund to notice us, we might just have a shot at escaping Buck Town."


    "City Lord Edmund?"


    Wilbur frowned. He had only been in Buck Town for a few months as a regr cultivator, and Felix was being hunted down by the Reyne family. Wilbur was pretty sure that the City Lord would hardly be willing to see them in this state.
