Chapter 2606

Wilbur made his way across a mountain and was halfway through when he saw several cultivators surrounding a cultivator with white hair. The white-haired cultivator was in a sorry state, his face unrecognizable from the loose hair covering it. His clothes were stained with blood, and so was the de of the sword he was holding.

The cultivators spotted Wilbur and promptly turned to charge at him. The white- haired man pushed his hair out of his face, gripping his sword as he stared at Wilbur with a frown. "Are you from the Reyne family too?"

Wilbur finally recognized the man with his hair out of his face. It was none other than Steward Horne, the old man from the dungeon.

Steward Horne stared at Wilbur for a moment before turning to shout at Saber and the others. "Saber Farring, you bastard! You were plotting against me with Divan Reyne this whole time!"

"Hahahaha!" Saber barked out augh. "Do you know why Mister Divan wants you dead, Steward Horne? You thought you understood how Buck Town operated, that this was a ce where honor and status mattered. That''s why you left and came back so many times. You wanted to get more and more out of your trips here and use this to join the Reyne family before rising through the ranks, hoping to get more power and status through this. It''s a pity you aren''t that great of a cultivator!"

Saberughed loudly once more, and Steward Horne roared, "What are youughing at? Is this funny to you? Anyone whoes to Buck Town would want power and higher status!"

"Yes, you''re right, but there''s one thing you missed. Power and status need to be backed up with support, and a person who only knows how to take advantage of others cannot rise among the elites of Buck Town! You should be grateful the Reyne family didn''t kill you for leaving this ce twice. Yet you kept going, trying to enter the Reyne family and opt for even more power. You''re too full of yourself, Steward Horne."

Steward Horne was stunned upon hearing those words. Memories of the past flooded his brain, and he looked to be in rather low spirits. Saber saw this, and jeered, "Who would have thought, huh? The great Steward Horne of such high esteem, being hunted down to be killed."

    ...

The other cultivatorsughed along with Saber, and Steward Horne gripped his sword furiously. "You bastards! I''ll kill you first even if it''ll cost me my life!"

Steward Horne was a prideful man and could hardly contain his anger at being mocked by Saber and the others. He turned around and started charging toward them.

"Wait, Steward Horne!" Just then, Wilbur shouted from where he was standing behind Steward Horne. Steward Horne paused, turning around and frowning at him. "Who are you?"

    "Wait. It''s you?"

"Yes, it''s me," Wilbur replied as he put his hair up and looked straight at Steward Horne. "It''s been a while."
