Just then, a belt of lightning lit up the sky. It was followed by a deafening rumble, causing Wilbur to look up in terror. Dark clouds were gathered in the sky as if the end of the world wasing.
"Dark clouds!"
A manic smile spread across Wilbur''s face. "It was the Night Demon! The Night Demon killed these people!"
White light shed all of a sudden, and Nightless Elder appeared behind Wilbur. "Don''t you understand yet, Wilbur? You killed all the people of Greenpeak Town."
"What?"
Wilbur whipped around to face Nightless Elder. "What are you doing here, Nightless Elder? How could it be me? No, no, it couldn''t be. It''s the Night Demon, the Night Demon killed the townsfolk."
Nightless Elder looked at Wilbur frostily. "This is my dimension. It''s only natural that I can appear wherever I want. And you''re right. The Night Demon did kill the townsfolk."
Wilbur heaved a sigh of relief at the words, but Nightless Elder proceeded to say something that shocked him to his core.
"You''re the Night Demon, Wilbur."
"What? I''m the Night Demon?"
Wilbur pointed at himself with a shaking finger, unable to believe that he was the Night Demon.
Nightless Elder said, "Yes, you heard that right. Did you forget what I said, Wilbur? The Night Demons appear every time darkness falls. The skies are now filled with dark clouds, covering the sunpletely. That''s a sign of the Night Demon''sing. You, Wilbur Penn, are the fifth Night Demon."
"W-What? How?"
Wilbur furrowed his brows, mumbling to himself, "If I''m the Night Demon, that means... that means I''ll have to kill myself to pass the test of the Eternal Sunshine Dimension. But if I kill myself... there would be no point in passing the test to begin with..."
The Nightless Elder nodded. "You''re right. You have two choices now. One, you can stay in the Eternal Sunshine Dimension forever. Two: you put an end to your life, and you would pass the test of the Eternal Sunshine Dimension."
"What... What kind of test is that?"
Wilbur was livid. "That''s a test that yields no result! Are you lying to me, Nightless Elder?"
Nightless Elder shook his head. "No, I''m not. Different people taking the test results in different oues. You were faced with such a challengergely because of what you did on the Eternal Sunshine Dimension. This is a dimension that determines theplexities of each test for each cultivator based on their actions during their time here."
He sighed, then continued, "You had good intentions, but your poor judgment got the best of you and led to you ughtering those innocent vigers. You''ve killed too many people, and too many people have died because of you. This is the only oue that cane out of your test. Think about it. Everyone deserves the right to their own life, don''t they? Why did you take these lives so easily instead of sparing them?"
"I..."
Wilbur was shocked into silence, and Nightless Elder continued, "Bloodlust has no part in cultivation. Your overwhelming bloodlust led to your demise."
Nightless Elder sighed, turning his back on Wilbur. "It''s your choice to stay or leave."
"I... Wait, Nightless Elder! I didn''t kill all those vigers, I only killed the ones who deserved to die! They were even willing to sacrifice their own children!"
