Suddenly, the block of ice started cracking. Then, it burst apart with an angry shout.
"Argh!"
The Dark Messenger abruptly turned around and choked Holt. Then, he lifted Holt from the ground. However, Holt did not look like he was in pain at all. Holt started to freeze all over, and he grabbed the right arm of the Dark Messenger, saying, "Quit resisting, Dark Messenger."
Wilbur knew this was his chance when he saw the sudden attack from Holt. He was afraid that he would be out of options if he did not escape. Wilbur instantly recited a spell and cast Aura Return, teleporting three hundred meters away in the blink of an eye.
His Dragon Aura could cover a radius of three hundred meters, allowing him to narrowly escape the crisis. He turned around and looked toward the direction of the battle, then he activated his Iris Veritas.
Wilbur saw a dark energy connected to the sky through his Iris Veritas. The bottom of the dark energy was connected to Holt. Wilbur had no doubt that Holt sacrificed his soul to the Cold Lord. Holt was merely a puppet for the Cold Lord.
However, Wilbur did not expect Holt to mess with the Dark Messenger. Holt probably did not know that even if he did kill the Dark Messenger, the Dark Lord would reincarnate a new clone in no time. A more powerful Dark Messenger would appear, and Holt would be dead for sure.
Wilbur could see Holt''s fate at that moment. The havoc in Burd Bay was caused by Holt, so once Holt was dead, all he needed to do was get rid of the Church of Holy Illuminati cultists in Burd Bay, and the Burd Bay war would vanish. Peace would be restored by then.
Wilbur believed that it would take less than a month. He did not stay to observe the fight. Instead, he flew past the border as fast as he could and returned to Skermann, nding in a small town. He hid his energy and hid in the depths of the forest.
As expected, Holt showed up with a bunch of men. However, Holt assumed that Wilbur was headed into the small town, so they flew toward the small town. They did not realize Wilbur was hiding in the forest.
Wilbur walked out from the forest at daybreak. He arrived at the small town and saw that the town was in ruins too. It was as if there was a huge battle between cultivators the night before.
Wilbur looked around and discovered the small town was mostly demolished. It proved that there must have been a battle with more than ten cultivators, which resulted in the ruins.
Moreover, the cultivators must be either at the Sanctuary or Emperor level. Wilbur sighed and thought, ''It''s no wonder Holt didn''t bring anyone to look for me in the forest. It looks like they''ve had a huge battle with Skermann''s cultivators.''
Skermann could send around ten Sanctuary level cultivators at once, so it proved that the Skermann Cultivator Guild started to handle the situation. For the cultivators in Skermann, it might only be a small-scale friction between Ede and Skermann, but the truth was that it was all part of Holt''s scheme for Burd Bay. The Skermann cultivators died in battle, so Holt turned his attention toward Beven instead. He was probably at Beven already, perhaps even battling General Arthur right then.
Wilbur knew that the Dark Messenger would appear again and would undoubtedly kill Holt. Therefore, Wilbur wanted to intervene. He felt like he should get rid of the stubborn cultists in the Church of Holy Illuminati. However, he was reminded of something: the Skermann cultivators died because of him, regardless of the circumstances.
