Chapter 2429

Wars spanning years were the only way the people would experience enough suffering, starvation, and humiliation to form evil thoughts in their heads. Skermann had been lucky enough to stay out of the wars, but now the Pope had met his goal and there were over five million refugees who had fled to Skermann.

These were the people the Pope had been nning to nourish the evil gods with, and those evil thoughts were a very important resource to him.

Of course, the Pope would not leave Skermann out of the wars. That was why he had Aiden gain control over Buker and issue the attack on Skermann.

Aiden looked at Wilbur nervously. "I''ve told you everything I know sir. Will you spare my life now?"

    "No."

    "What? Why?"

Aiden stared at Wilbur in shock and terror, whose face darkened as he said, "Because you''ve caused too much death and destruction, and you''re the reason so many people have lost their homes. You don''t deserve to live!"

    "Please, no!"

Wilbur drove his sword through Aiden''s chest, kicking him to the ground and putting the Magic Dragon de away.

There was no way Wilbur would have let Aiden go. After all, killing him was sure to attract the attention of the Pope. Wilbur heading to Brunda on his own might get him into trouble, as the Pope might be prepared to face him.

Killing Aiden and drawing the attention of the Pope would lead to him sending people over oring here himself. If the Pope were to send people over, this distraction would definitely divert his focus and make him neglect his watch over Brunda.

If that was the case, Wilbur would be able to sneak into Brunda and find the Pope himself.

If the Pope came here personally, Wilbur could face him in a battle, one that would surely change the fate of Burd Bay.

Just after Wilbur had left the Cultivator Guild and blended into the crowd, the Dark Messenger appeared out of nowhere. There was disdain in his eyes as he strode into the Cultivator Guild.

The Church of Holy Illuminati was supposed to be working for Light Valley and listen to their orders, but they seemed to have changed their stance toward Light Valley in the past few years. What had once been nothing but meek obedience was nowced with hints of arrogance.

The truth was that the Dark Messenger had long since guessed that the Pope had sacrificed his soul to an evil god. The Pope of the Church of Holy Illuminati was now a puppet of an evil god and deluded into thinking he had their power, thus no longer willing to take orders from Light Valley.

The Dark Messenger resented the Pope to no end, but it was not time for the Dark Messenger to take him down yet, at least not before the Dark Messenger got his hands on Wilbur.

This time, the Dark Messenger was not in Ede to control the Church of the Holy Illuminati. He had heard that a cultivator from Skermann had killed Buker, and there were only two cultivators in Skermann who were capable of doing that. One was General Arthur of the Skermann Cultivator Guild, and the other was Wilbur.

Arthur had been in the Skermann Cultivator Guild when the murder happened, so the culprit could only be Wilbur. The Dark Messenger had been trying to track him down for a while now but did not expect him to havee all the way to Ede and even kick up such a fuss.

The Dark Messenger was in Ede to look for Wilbur and found Aiden and Kino''s bodies in the basement. They were still warm, which could only mean that Wilbur had just left.

Rage red up in the Dark Messenger''s chest, and he rushed out of the guild onto the streets. He looked around frantically but could not detect a single cultivator''s aura in the vicinity.
