"Well..."
Steviat lowered his head with a frown. "I''m afraid I don''t know, General."
"What?"
General Arthur stared at Steviat in shock. "You just told me that someone killed Buker, but you don''t know who did it? How can you not know something so important? This is disappointing, Steviat."
The General had the biggest say in all of the Cultivator Guild, and all his orders were to be carried out by the cultivators. It was all the more important for the General''s orders to be followed closely when the nation was facing such a huge threat.
Nheless, Steviat had brought all the cultivators back from the borders just an hour after General Arthur gave his order. It was seen as a sign of treason.
Steviat himself knew the severity of the situation and hardly dared to look Arthur in the eye as he fell to his knees. Just then, Kevan bowed and spoke up, "General... Mister Steviat is right. We did receive news from a reliable source that General Buker of Ede has been killed by a cultivator from Skermann, but no one knows who did it because it happened too suddenly."
"Is that right?"
Arthur nced at Kevan, whose legs wobbled as he fell to his knees. The other cultivators fell on their knees as well, and Kevan replied, "We have absolutely no intention to go against your orders, General Arthur! Let me be struck by lightning if I am found to be lying to you!"
"Please reconsider your judgment, General Arthur!"
Everyone knelt before Arthur, which dissipated the rage in him significantly. He knew that these cultivators would not even be kneeling before him if Steviat was really leading them to rebel. Steviat had to be telling the truth.
If that was the case... Could there really be a cultivator from Skermann who killed General Buker? It was important to note that Buker had once defeated three Emperor level elites on his own, and that was twenty years ago.
Buker was definitely a lot more powerful now. How could someone have killed him off so easily?
After giving it some thought, Arthur said, "Alright, you can all stand up now. I''ll believe you for now. Go back and wait for my orders. I''ll summon you if there are any changes and we can discuss a new strategy."
"Thank you, General."
The cultivators got to their feet and went their separate ways. Steviat was about to do the same when Arthur called out to him, "Come with me, Steviat."
Steviat followed Arthur into the main hall, who waited for the voices outside to fadepletely before turning around to face Steviat. "I''m going to ask you onest time, Steviat. Is what you said about Buker being murdered the truth?"
