Chapter 2412

The Dark Messenger would take a step forward after observing each guest, and it was not long before he reached Wilbur. The Dark Messenger stopped in his tracks, staring Wilbur down. "Have I seen you somewhere before, buddy?"

    "W-What?"

Wilbur put on a terrified expression. "Did you mistake me for someone else, Mister Cultivator? I swear I''ve never seen you before."

The Dark Messenger looked firmly into Wilbur''s eyes. "Cut it out, Wilbur Penn. I know it''s you."

Wilbur froze. "S-Sir, I don''t know who W-Wilbur Penn is. P-Please forgive me..."

"Right. I was just joking, I hope you don''t mind."

    "T-Thank you, sir."

The Dark Messenger moved on to the next person. A little over ten minutester, the innkeeper walked over with a smile. "Have you found your guy, sir?"

    "No."

"That''s such a shame. Please don''t hesitate to let me know if there''s anything else I can help with, though."

The Dark Messenger then walked out of the room with the innkeeper. Wilbur heaved a sigh of relief as the door swung shut. He was almost caught.

As it waste at night, all the guests were extremely tired and went right back to sleep after the check. Wilbur finally made it to the next morning and headed to the inn dinner for a quick meal. The innkeeper gave Wilbur an extra side dish for free, taking the opportunity to ask, "You don''t look like you''re from around here, young man. Don''te around Wendis very often, do you? Can I know what you''re here for?"

The people staying in the cheap shared dorms were usually in Wendis for some small business opportunities, and Wilbur hardly looked like one of them. The innkeeper was trying to see if Wilbur was the guy the Dark Messenger was looking for.

Wilbur could tell his intentions at once. However, he was lucky enough as Judith had mentioned in conversation before that the poor people of Wendis liked to visit the beach to hunt for ms and urchins to trade for money.

Wendis had some of the best seafood around, and a regr person would be able to earn a regr daily wage if they worked hard enough at wishing. Sometimes they would even be lucky enough to find pearls in the ms, which would be worth a few days of wages.

"Sir," said Wilbur. "I heard that the seafood in Wendis is some of the best out there, and a day of harvesting can get me a regr wage. Is that true?"

The innkeeper blinked but nodded his head. "Yes, you''re right. However, it takes a lot of hard work to be good at the job. You need to get up real early, and it''s also very hard on one''s back. It''s not a suitable job for the weak."

Wilbur shrugged. "That''s alright. I think I''m good enough for that."
