Chapter 2374

After Judith''s grandmother was done revealing that information to Wilbur, she returned to her room. Judith came out of the kitchen after cleaning up and chuckled at the sight of Wilbur standing frozen in ce. "Want to go for a walk?"

"W-What? Oh, yeah, sure. I was just thinking of doing that."

Judith disappeared into her grandmother''s room for a short while and then came out to go downstairs with Wilbur. They strolled along the neighborhood, and Wilbur asked, "Where''s that pearl you found, Judith?"

"I traded it for money, then donated it to charity," Judith replied.

"Why didn''t you leave some of it for yourself? I''m not saying you have to livevishly, but you should at least have enough for a morefortable life with your grandma."

Judith shrugged at the words. "You''re a good man, Mister Penn, but Grandma said that this is just our fate. We aren''t fated for thevish life. Using the money made from the Dragon Eye will only result in our bad karma."

    "Bad karma?"

Wilbur frowned. "Do you think it could just be a cebo? Maybe your grandmother''s used to living this way, and thus thinks it''s the life she''s destined to have, but the truth is that you''re more than capable of getting yourselves better lives. Don''t you think so?"

Judith shook her head but said nothing. The two of them walked past a clothing store, and Judith was drawn to a beautiful dress in the window. She pressed her nose against the ss, staring at it with glowing eyes.

Wilbur nced at the purple dress and promptly went into the store. He bought the dress for Judith with his own money and then gave it to her.

"Is this for me? Thank you!"

Judith was beside herself with excitement, rushing into the changing rooms beforeing out wearing the dress. She twirled in the mirror, beaming at herself. "Does it look nice on me?"

    "Yes, you look very pretty."

    "Thank you."

    "Don''t mention it."

Wilbur let out a long breath. The talk he had with Judith''s grandmother had left a strange, dull feeling in his chest that somehow made him want to prove a point.

"See? I was right, wasn''t I? You don''t have to live such frugal lives, you know. Treat yourself and your grandmother to some nicer things, won''t you? No one can tell you that you don''t have the right to live the life you want."

Judith was overjoyed, thanking Wilbur profusely. They continued their walk, strolling around casually. As they walked past an alley, a hooligan armed with a dagger came rushing out as two figures chasing after him shouted, "Stop, thief!"

The thief was enraged and turned around to swing his dagger wildly through the air.
