Wilbur nodded helplessly, realizing the truth in the saying "When in Rome, do as
the Romans do". Caitlyn was right. Every ce had its unique ways, and what the locals did, outsiders might not understand and should not overthink.
After chatting for a while, Caitlyn said, "Actually, there''s something very important I need to do this time. Wilbur, do you believe in fate?"
"Fate? What do you mean?"
Caitlyn exined that three years ago when she and her boyfriend first came to Wrecknam, the desert city, she had a chance encounter with a local prophetess, a woman who could predict the future.
This prophetess was named Angelia.
At that time, Angelia had predicted that Caitlyn and her boyfriend would have a three-year rtionship, after which they would break up. Caitlyn did not believe it then, but three yearster, everything happened exactly as Angelia had said.
Though She was heartbroken, Caitlyn was eager to know if she could rekindle her rtionship with her ex-boyfriend and learn more about her future fate.
After hearing Caitlyn''s story, Wilbur frowned. He had only heard of one legend about prophecies: in the higher dimensions, powerful guardians could foresee the future.
In their current lower dimension, Wilbur did not believe anyone could predict the future. Thus, he was not convinced by Angelia''s reputation and said, "Maybe she was just guessing. It could be a coincidence."
Caitlyn replied, "I don''t really believe it either, but I can''t let it go. Can you apany me to find Angelia? I really want to know the answer."
"Sure."
"Thank you, Wilbur. You''re such a nice guy."
Caitlyn led Wilbur through the bustling streets to a quiet alley, where they entered
a courtyard. Inside, about a dozen people were already waiting in line. Caitlyn
quickly took her ce at the end of the line, while Wilbur stood to the side.
Seeing this, Caitlyn asked, "What''s the matter? Don''t you have anything you want to ask?"
Wilbur replied. "No. I''m not interested in this kind of thing."
"Alright, then. Wait for me here."
Since there were some chairs in the courtyard, Wilbur pulled one over and sat down to wait quietly. After about an hour, the people in front of Caitlyn had all gone in ande out, and it was finally her turn. However, she returned after a mere ten minutes after going in, walking out with her head down.
"Howe it was so quick?" Wilbur asked.
"Yeah," Caitlyn replied, her eyes red with tears. She shook her head and quickly walked out of the courtyard. Wilbur hurried to follow her. Outside, Caitlyn picked up speed, eventually breaking into a run, and Wilbur could only keep up.
They soon reached the city wall of the desert city. Caitlyn quickly climbed the steps to the top of the wall, and Wilbur followed. When Wilbur reached the top, he saw Caitlyn standing at the edge. He quickly said, "Caitlyn, don''t do anything foolish. Calm down. Whatever it is, we can talk things out."
