Chapter 2153

The next morning, Wilbur was resting on his bed when there was a knock on the door. He got up to open it and saw the old police officer standing there with worried expressions on their faces. "Mister Penn, there was another

disappearancest night. Three children went missing."

"What?" Wilbur was shocked. "Three kids went missing in one night?"

"Yes," the other younger police officer said. "We''ve searched the whole town and the nearby areas, but there was no sign of them."

"Well, what are you going to do?"

The old officer said, "Mister Penn, the kids couldn''t have gotten very far. We''d like to ask for your help to bring us into the mines to search for them."

"Are you saying the kids are in the mines?"

Ten minutester, Wilbur brought the three police officers into Ezekial Mine. They walked along the mine, and the old officer said, "I really hope those three kids haven''t gone into the mine. I honestly don''t know what I''d do otherwise."

The younger officer said, "Yeah. Anderson Town hasn''t seen a case this bad in years. I really hope those kids just got lost."

Although they were hopeful in the search, they soon discovered the terrible truth. When Wilbur and the officers went deeper into the mine, they finally discovered the corpses of the three missing children.

The three children''s deaths seemed rather peculiar. They appeared to have drowned, but the mine was nothing but dry, and there was no way there was even any water around. Wilbur did not even have to think hard to figure out that Adam was behind this. He must have killed the childrenst night as a way to challenge Wilbur.

Wilbur''s chest ached as he looked at the three young corpses. All of a sudden, the old officer fell to his knees in front of Wilbur as tears streamed down his face. "Please, Mister Penn. You have to help us."

The other two younger officers knelt in front of Wilbur as well. "Please, please help us, Mister Penn."

"Anderson Town cannot afford any more deaths. These children were so young. They were supposed to live out a happy childhood and live on like everyone else."

    ...

The sobs of the officers made Wilbur''s chest quiver and a fierce concern towards these people rose in his mind. After sending the children''s bodies out of the mine, their family members broke into tears all over again at the sight of them. Two of the children''s mothers even fainted from crying.

The sight filled Wilbur with emotional turmoil, and he decided to shut himself in the mine for three days. Wilbur walked into the mine with all eyes on him. Those three days were the time he was giving Adam and his mother, as well as himself, to sort this out.

Wilbur knew that if he did not make a move on Adam, the tragedy would still go on. After all, Adam had said that he wanted to kill a tenth of the townsfolk here.

Now that something like this had happened, there was no way Wilbur could overlook this matter.

Wilbur sat down to rest and meditate in the mine. Night fell soon enough, and the liquid screen appeared on the wall of the cave once more with the woman''s face.

The woman looked guiltily at Wilbur. "I''m sorry. I know this is Adam''s fault. I hope you can forgive him."

Wilbur opened his eyes to look at the woman. "Do you think the mothers of those three children would forgive you? If Adam had been the one to die in front of you, would you forgive the person who killed him?"

The woman''s face turned blurry, and the screen disappeared as Wilbur closed his eyes once more.
