Chapter 1957

Right after Wilbur had ended the call, his phone rang with another call from La.

    "Yo, sir."

    "Is anything the matter, La?"

"Sir, we''ve just received news that the assassin group called the ck Panthers reappeared after disappearing from the cultivator''s circle for a good while. They killed Jirost night, and if I''m not wrong, they''re now on their way to Migorn."

"I think they''re out to get you, sir."

    "I know. It''s alright, I''ll handle it."

The ck Panthers were making a move?

Wilbur found the whole thing rather peculiar upon hanging up. The ck Panthers had always been under a powerful secret elite, working for him and carrying out his demands. That elite had not given out any orders for a long time, and eventually, the ck Panthers were barely talked about at all.

No one could believe that they had made a reappearance, ten yearster- and this time, they were after him.

Wilbur gave it some thought and realized that neither he nor Jiro had any reason to have offended the ck Panthers or their elite leader. Now that the ck Panthers had killed Billy and had set eyes on him, that meant that it might not be because of Wilbur or Jiro.

The ck Panthers'' goal might be rted to the Nine Dragons Cauldrons. It was definitely not a coincidence that they had appeared right after Wilbur had taken action. Maybe someone knew about the secret of the Nine Dragons Cauldrons. There were many cultivators around the world cultivating dragon aura, or at least that was what Wilbur was sure of.

Maybe other cultivators had found out about the secret of the Nine Dragons Cauldrons. It was a shame that they had found outter than Wilbur did, though. Now that Jiro was dead, their next target might be Wilbur himself.

However, Wilbur was not too worried. There were too many things happening in the world and there was no point living while worrying about everything. Wilbur had been in touch with the ck Panthers a long time ago and knew that they were powerful, but they definitely had a long way to go if they were going to battle against him.

That evening, Ellen cycled home after work. She bought some food from the nearby grocery store and returned home.

Ellen''s father was waiting for her at the door with a stern expression, glowering at Ellen as he snatched the bag of food from her andnded a p on her face.

"What took you so long to get home? Why did I give birth to such a useless daughter like you?"

Ellen clutched her face, copsing to the ground in tears. It was far from the first time this had happened, and Ellen roared, "Just let me leave with Mom if you don''t want to see me, then!"

"Do you think it''s that easy?"

Her father smiled at her widely. "Your mother spent all her effort and money on this family in the past, and now it''s your turn to do the same for us."

Ellen broke into sobs. Her father was a good-for-nothing bastard. Ever since marrying him, Ellen''s mother had worked many difficult jobs to sustain the family and even had toe home to a beating from him. One day, on the way home from work, Ellen''s mother was so tired that she could not see the car zooming across the road and became a cripple from the ident.

Ellen''s mother now had to spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair. Yet despite something like this happening and the family nearly running out of moneypletely, Ellen''s father refused to go looking for a job, forcing Ellen to be the breadwinner of the family.

Now Ellen had be just like her mother, ving away at work every day only to have most of her hard-earned money taken away by her father to spend on drinks at the bar.

Ellen''s mother had also be mentally paralyzed since the ident, and her condition varied from day to day. Ellen would have given up had it not been for her mother, but she did not know how long more she could keep going.
