The man in the ck robes took two steps forward. He was about to make a move when a voice rang from the entrance of the balcony. "Wait, Dark Messenger! You can''t kill him."
"The butler?"
The man in the ck robes turned to look at an old man in a suit hobbling onto the balcony on his cane. Mister Paul followed closely behind him.
"Why are you stopping me?"
The butler said, "This is the Lord''s order, Dark Messenger. The Lord wants you to stop and go back to see him immediately. He has some very important things to tell you."
"Why now? Didn''t the Lord tell me to get rid of him?"
"That was the past. The Lord has changed his mind," the old man said calmly. "Are you not willing to listen to the Lord''s word anymore, Dark Messenger?"
"Of course not. I would never dare." The man in the ck robes fell to his knees and bowed. "I''ll return to Light Valley this very second."
He leaped off the balcony the next second, disappearing into the night. The old man watched him leave before turning to leave himself. Wilbur called out, "Hang on! Wait a minute!"
The old man stopped in his tracks, turning around to look at Wilbur. "Is anything else the matter, Mister Penn?"
Wilbur asked, "Why did you save me?"
The old man said, "My apologies, Mister Penn. The actions of Greensource Corp might have given you a bit of a shock. However, we don''t have to be enemies. I''m sure you already know about the Light Warrior and the Dark Lord?"
Wilbur nodded.
The old man sighed. "A few thousand years have passed, and the Light Warrior has passed on as well. The Great Lord has understood the meaning of life during his time in this dimension and given up on his bloodlust. All he wants to do now is find a way to return to the dimension he came from. Everything else does not matter to him much. You could say that Greensource Corp''s actions in the past few decades came to be because of the people of this dimension."
"That''s..."
"Regardless of whether you believe it or not, you''ve been chosen by the Light Warrior. Keep working hard, and you will understand all the secrets one day."
The old man turned to leave for good after that.
"Chosen by the Light Warrior?"
Wilbur was nothing but confused. He had not done anything noteworthy. Why would the Light Warrior pick him? Could it be because of the Light Gloves? Light and destruction were two opposing forces, so why did the Dark Lord pull back on killing him at such a critical moment?
Wilbur suddenly felt like he knew nothing about the world. Things he found shocking and unbelievable were frightfully normal to everyone else.
Wilbur had never thought that a cultivator from a different dimension would ever show up here, but now it seemed like that was the undeniable truth. If that was the case, there might be some people from the upper dimensions who had traveled here hidden in somepletely unknown corners.
After the old man left, Tina rushed over and checked on Wilbur frantically. "What happened, Wilbur? Are you alright?"
Wilbur shook his head. "I''m fine now, don''t worry."
Tina swept Wilbur into a fierce embrace as she sobbed. "I was so scared! Let''s never part anymore from now."
