"So that USB drive contained information about Greensource Corp?"
"That''s right," said Tina. "That drive does contain information about Greensource Corp. I''ll let you have a look at it since you saved my life, but I can''t give it to you because I need to give it to the group."
She took the USB drive out, handing it to Wilbur.
Wilbur did not take the drive from her, waving a hand instead. "Whatever''s in there might be really important to you. I won''t look. However, I do want to know what this group you mentioned has to do with Greensource Corp, and why did you infiltrate thepany, risking your life to steal this information?"
Tina did not seem upset in the slightest at the question. She fell silent for a beat, before pointing at an oil painting in the attic.
"I''ve sold my soul to the group, but it''s not for money nor power. I did this because of my father. The story''s really long, though, as it starts from a really long time ago. Would you be interested in listening to it?"
"As long as you don''t mind, I''ve got the whole night to hear you out. I can even get us some good wine if you need to get in the mood!" Wilbur said teasingly.
Tina seemed to rx at that, staring at the oil painting. "Fifteen years ago, my dad, who had always been fascinated with science and research, was employed by Greensource Corp for an amazing sry. I still remember how happy he was when he found out that he got the job. He took my mother and me to a fancy restaurant for a wonderful meal and said that he was working on something that would be able to change the lives of many."
There was a pause, and Tina''s tone grew solemn as she continued, "However, after he began working, my dad started spending way more time at work than at home. His smiles dwindled by the day too. One snowy day, three years after my dad had been working at Greensource Corp, he sent my mother a huge check, then disappeared."
Tina sighed audibly before resuming, "Mom and I spent almost all our money trying to look for him, but it was like he''d vanished into thin air. We never saw him again. Time passed, and eventually, I graduated from university. What I never would have expected was that my father had someone pass a key and a letter to me over a decadeter! That key opens this hidden attic, which I managed to locate thanks to the letter."
Tina seemed to be growing more agitated as she continued, "I looked through everything in here as instructed by my dad in the letter, and finally understood that he hadn''t gone missing. He was furious that the higher-ups at Greensource Corp were using the results of their research to poison the people and nned to report them. However, my father was too idealistic. Greensource Corp is backed by the government of Cametra, at the end of the day. Dad made that report and never appeared again. That''s why my mother and I changed our appearances and identities, and why I joined Greensource Corp. It''s for our revenge. As for the rtionship between the group I''m working for and Greensource Corp, I''m honestly not too sure about that. All I know is they''ll never be allies!"
Wilbur finally understood why the people chasing after Tina from earlier were wearing security uniforms from Greensource Corp.
"My apologies!"
