Wilbur raised an eyebrow at Sophia.
This youngdy had tan skin and lean muscles.
It was clear that she had grown up in tough conditions and had to fight for herself.
It was indeed impressive that a regr youngdy like her had been able to make
it as a detective and be assigned on a personal mission.
It was certainly fair to say that she was better than many others.
Yet with their short interaction, Wilbur had noticed something.
Sophie was fiercely determined and desperate to rise up the ranks, deeply unsatisfied with where she was now.
Of course, it was good to have that kind of spirit.
However, clinging to a fixed set of values and refusing to budge would not do her any good.
Wilbur did not say any of that to her. It was highly unlikely that Sophie would listen, anyway.
The two of them reached Seesha City the next morning, staying in a cheap inn nearby.
Both Wilbur and Sophie shared a room, and theck of personal space felt almost suffocating.
However, Sophie did notin in the slightest. She was glued to her phone all the while, chatting online.
Aside from when the two of them left their room to go out for food, the rest of their time was spent with Wilbur just watching Sophie chat away.
When he got bored, Wilbur would just lie down and sleep.
It waste at night when Sophie picked up her backpack and turned to Wilbur. "Let''s go. Someone''sing for us."
Wilbur got up and stretched, looking over at Sophie.
She did not say anything else, turning to leave as Wilbur followed behind her.
They walked out of the inn, where they were greeted with the sight of a beaten-up SUV waiting for them.
Sophie talked to the driver for a bit before entering the car with Wilbur.
The driver was a middle-aged man with a mustache, who said nothing throughout the entire ride.
The car drove out of the city into the suburbs, then into the mountains.
After winding around countless roads, the car finally stopped at the foot of a mountain.
The mustached man got out of the car, pointing to the river ahead. "Get off here. There will be people waiting for you."
Sophie did as she was told at once, and Wilbur followed behind her quietly.
A little over half an hourter, the two of them arrived by the river.
A small, dpidated boat that had been modified, chugged over, and both Sophie and Wilbur boarded it before the boat sped off.
Another half an hourter, the boat stopped at a mysterious-looking harbor.
A young man was standing there.
Sophie and Wilbur got off, and the man greeted Sophie warmly. "You made it, Soph!"
Sophie shed a rare smile. "This is my cousin, Wilbur Penn, the one I told you about. He heard that you could make loads of money here, and insisted oning along. Wilbur, this is Zayn Cox. My friend."
Wilbur nodded and smiled at Zayn, who chuckled in response. "Of course, of course. Everyone''s wee here. You''re more than wee toe here and make your money. Let''s go."
Zayn then turned away, heading deep into the woods.
Sophie and Wilbur followed behind him.
Just then, however, two soldiers holding rifles appeared to follow behind them as well.
Sophie spotted them and gasped in shock. "What''s this?"
"Oh, don''t mind them. They''re from thepany''s security team. They''re here to protect us. I''m sure you know how dangerous things are around here, but the money''s no joke. I''ve only been here a little over a year, and I''ve already made over five million dors. I''ll be heading back to live the rest of my life infort and glory when I hit a hundred million," Zayn said with a smile.
