Chapter 1076

Wilbur could not help but snort.

This chief had been the man Wilbur had run into on the train back to

Seechertown, with whom he had gotten into a small dispute over a knocked-over bag. The guy had even threatened Wilbur.

The man fumed at the sight of Wilbur smiling. "What the f*ck are youughing at, huh? You really think I won''t get you?"

"Oh, I can assure you it''s not that," Wilbur chuckled.

The man''s anger grew by the second, but Wilbur seemedpletely unbothered.

"Arrest this man for trespassing on forbidden grounds, and detain him for interrogation," said the man coldly.

Two officers came over at once and were about to make a move.

Just then, a female officer happened to walk past with her team on patrol.

Wilbur was about to teach the guy a lesson when he noticed the female officer. He smiled, choosing to do nothing instead.

The female officer obviously noticed something off here and rushed over at once. "What''s going on here?" she asked right as she spotted Wilbur.

"You finally made it, Boss! Come on now, Mister Campbell''s been waiting for hours." The female officer on duty turned out to be none other than Elsa.

This was a huge case, and she had to be here as well.

The man and his teammates were dumbstruck at the sight of Elsa calling Wilbur ''Boss''.

Wilbur snorted. "I was trying to get in, but your staff here won''t let me."

Elsa frowned at the man. "What''s going on here, Hudler?"

The chief of the team on duty, Dane Hudler, stammered fearfully at once.

Elsa raised an eyebrow. "Come on."

Dane trembled all over. "I didn''t know this man, ma''am! He just said he was looking for Mister Campbell, and even called him by his first name. I thought he was just trying to cause trouble, and that''s why I didn''t let him in."

"Is that all?" Wilbur piped up coldly then.

Elsa''s expression turned icy at once.

She knew that Wilbur would never get angry or give other people a hard time unless they had crossed a line.

Dane paled at the look on her face, unable to get a word out.

Wilbur was the one to speak up. "Sure, I''ll tell you. I said I was here to see Orin Campbell, and he refused to let me in. I could understand that because he was just doing his job. Orin Campbell isn''t a man just about everyone can talk to like that, after all. But this guy and I had a minor dispute in the past, and because of that, he framed me for trespassing and was going to arrest me to be interrogated. Don''t you think that''s crossing the line?"

Elsa was fuming at those words.

Leaving aside the fact that Orin was waiting for Wilbur, Dane''s attempt to abuse his power to frame someone innocent over a personal dispute was by itself unforgivable.

"Is that true?" Elsa shouted sharply.

Dane trembled all over, sweat trickling down his back. "Y-Yes, ma''am. I''m sorry! I''ll never do it again!"

It had not been easy for him to be a member of the Special Forces, let alone make it to the position of chief of a small team.

After all that hard work, only for something like this to happen to him.

The thought of what happened on the bullet train and what Dane had done just

now was enough to fill him with overwhelming remorse.

Even Chief Janae had called this man her ''Boss''. He was definitely not someone to be messed with.
