Read Harvey York’s Rise to Power [by A Potato-Loving Wolf] Chapter 38 – Both Mandy’s best friends-
Cecilia and Angel, were so frightened that their legs became shaky. They saw eight hundred thousand
dors in front of them. The strong impact which the scene provided was rather unimaginable.
“My good daughters, can you address me as your father now?” Harvey said while pping his hands
and smiling faintly.
At that moment, Cecilia took a deep breath. She recovered her wits from the great astonishment just
now. She then sized Harvey up, and she said contemptuously, “Harvey, don’t assume that I’m unaware
of it. It’s Mandy who gave you your pocket money during these three years. You’re such a useless man.
How is it possible that you’re able to have eight hundred thousand dors? I’m afraid that you didn’t get
them through proper and legal means.”
Hearing that, Mandy frowned slightly too. She grabbed Harvey’s hand unconsciously and dragged him
into the bedroom.
Harvey was puzzled. It was the first time Mandy grabbed his hand out of her own initiative after being
married for so many years.
Mandy then closed the door properly. She spoke softly, “Harvey, tell me the truth. Where did you get that
amount of money? Don’t tell me that you went and stole it?”
“You don’t have to worry about it. Even if I wanted to, I wouldn’t be so bold as to do such a thing. I
borrowed them from one of my ssmates.” Harvey sighed and said.
The previous night, he imed that he was the CEO of York Enterprise, but no one believed him. So now
he did not have to say that either.
Besides, Harvey had considered that carefully. If Mandy knew about his true identity, it might not be a
good thing. The rtionship between them might be much moreplicated.
Harvey did not want Mandy to ept him because of his identity. He hoped that Mandy could ept the
ordinary man he was one day.
“ssmate? What kind of ssmate?” Mandy frowned. “We’ve been married to each other for so long. I
never saw any of your ssmates give you a call. Don’t assume that I’m unaware of it. You once wanted
to borrow money from your friends to go and see the doctor. You made several calls, but nobody
bothered about you.”
Harvey was upset. It was true indeed. The moment he lost his identity as the heir of the Yorks, he
understood the cruelty of society. Those so-called friends from his past treated him as some kind of
diseased person. After they received his call, they were even reluctant to be perfunctory to him. Some of
them even blocked his social contact.
Harvey gritted his teeth and forced himself to endure the pain. He walked for a few steps. When he
reached the bedroom door, he turned around and said, “It’s my university ssmate, and he’s doing
investment. He owned me a favor in the past. Now he lent me the money as a form ofpensation.
Just take the money and use it!”
“What kind of favor did he own you?” Mandy was filled with disbelief.
Harvey mocked at himself. “Don’t you know about my capabilities? When I was studying in the university,
I always served the rich heir well who stayed in the same dorm as me. I served them their food, and I
even helped them wash their clothes and cook for them. Certainly, those were some kind of hard work
even if I didn’t take credits for that.”
When Harvey said something like that, Mandy believed him. It was because Harvey was indeed quite
good at doing the house chores. If he really served the rich heir well, it was reasonable if the rich heir
lent him some money.
But hearing that from Harvey, Mandy was slightly upset. After hesitating for a short while, she said, “Don’t
worry. When mypany is back on its feet, I ‘ll return the money to you as soon as possible.”
“Alright.” Harvey did not reject her. If he imed that she did not have to return the money to him, Mandy
would get suspicious, and he could not exin that to her.
When he came to the living room, both Angel and Cecilia had left. They might find it hard to bear it if they
were to address Harvey as their father.
Xynthia yed with the money and threw it here and there excitedly. She seemed to be ying with
toys. Lilian had calmed herself down now. She sat down on the sofa properly and drank her tea in
composure.
Noticing Harvey returned to the living room, Lilianughed coldly and said, “Don’t think that you’re able to
get the others to listen to you in our family since you got lucky and managed to borrow eight hundred
thousand dors. You lucky b*stard! Let me tell you! Not by a long chalk! If it weren’t for such a useless
person like you, Mandy wouldn’t be bullied in thepany today!”
Harvey was stunned. ‘I’ve asked them to give my wife a signed contract. How is it possible that she’s
being bullied?’
Mandy walked out of the bedroom. She said softly, “Mom, just drop it. It’s not Harvey’s fault. Grandpa
was unfair.”
Lilian said coldly, “How could I not me him? You’ re clearly the one who brought the fifty-million-dors
contract back today. But what about the consequences? When it came to your grandpa, it became that
b*stard–Zack’s contribution! He imed that he endured the humiliation and went through with the
hardship for it!”
“You can bear that, but I can’t!”
“Harvey, let me tell you. If it’s not because of a useless, live-in son-inw like you, how would Senior
Zimmer and Zack’s family be so bold to bully Mandy?”
“I’m warning you. If you don’t want to stay here anymore, go and get the divorce procedure done
tomorrow. Without you, maybe Mandy’s business could be developed in a smoother and better way.
Maybe she could even find herself a better husband.”

Harvey frowned and said, “Mom, you got Mr. Xander for Mandy before. But it seems like he’s not that
good either.”
“So how is it any of your business given what kind of son-inw I found? If you’re capable, go and get
Senior Zimmer to change his mind. If you’re really that good, I’ll let you stay in our home!” Lilian sneered.
Harvey thought for a moment, ‘I still think that ‘Zack can’t get the contract.’
