Chapter 1989
"Hello, Leon. What''s up?" Alfred''s chirrupy voice rang out from the other end of the line.
"Mister sbey, I want to talk to you about something. I got into some trouble with the Hiltons this
time," Leon then exined everything that happened to Alfred.
After all, Oliver used Alfred''s name to scare Devon into handing Joel over for interrogation and to
prevent Devon from stirring up trouble, Leon was obliged to notify Alfred about this beforehand.
Alfred fell silent upon hearing this.
"What''s wrong, Mister sbey? Why aren''t you saying anything?" Leon asked dubiously.
"I can''t believe you! You arrested Rodney Spears for no reason just a few weeks ago, and now you''ve
done the same with Joel Hiltons! You can''t just arrest people without concrete evidence of their
wrongdoings like this! You''re getting more and more daring, and I don''t mean this in a good way!"
Alfred snapped rather indignantly.
The Dragon Corps were responsible for maintaining peace and rarely got involved in personal feuds
between martial artists.
Rodney was the son of the Southern Boss, whereas Joel was the heir to the Hiltons—these two
undoubtedly had powerful forces on their side and were not people to be messed with. However, Leon
managed to cross them within two months of his arrival in this city and even got the Dragon Corps
involved in this!
Alfred could not help feeling rather annoyed at this.
"Well, Mister sbey, that''s precisely the reason why I decided to keep them in captivity for a few
days! If I had proof of their wrongdoings, they wouldn''t even have gotten away with just a few days in a
holding cell!" Leon replied earnestly.
"You—never mind! I can''t be bothered to argue with you! Just promise me you''ll stop doing this again!"
Alfred had no choice but to relent. The Dragon Corps was a specialized government body in charge of
maintaining peace and order, and naturally, possessed a power that overrode even those of the ancient
martial arts families!
As a tinum Dragon Guard, Leon did indeed have the right to keep Rodney and Joel in captivity for a
few days, and thus he did not want to inflict any me on Leon for doing so.
He scolded Leon in hopes that Leon would learn to tone this attitude down, lest he gets into trouble
with other ancient families in the future!
Getting tangled into feuds was not something that worked in either Leon''s or the Dragon Corps'' favor!
"Alright, I promise I will," Leon replied obediently.
"Also, has Oliver told you about Poisonwielder? The Western region branch has tracked him down and
reached out to us for backup. They''re hoping we can send some troops over to help them bring him
down, and I intend to send you over there with a team," Alfred changed the subject.
The Southern and Western regions were neighbors, and coincidentally, Poisonwielder''s hiding ce
was located close to their border. Besides, the Western region branch of the Dragon Corps only
managed to track down Poisonwielder''s whereabouts, whereas his exact location was still unknown.
Therefore, they needed more backup to carry out this mission!
This was why they reached out to Alfred for assistance!
"I''m afraid I have to say no! Mister sbey, you know better than anyone that I haven''t even attained
the Almighty State. I truly have no confidence leading a team to track down and defeat Poisonwielder,"
Leon said rather hesitantly.N?vel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive ? material.
The only reason Alfred made him a tinum Dragon Guard was on behalf of Master Haslewood, and
the truth was, he could not yet shoulder this responsibility!
Leon was not particrly scared of Poisonwielder, nor was he worried about dying a horrible death at
the hands of this notorious criminal. On the contrary, he was concerned that should Poisonwielder
escape from right under his nose, it would ruin the Dragon Corps'' ns!
