Nodding, Frank said, "Would you mind if I bring someone else here?"
Rina shook her head. "Of course not-as long as you don''t!"
"Okay."
Frank whipped out his phone and called Jouri Yelin, who arrived with aptop in thirty minutes, ughing. "Did you have to call me personally for this, Mr. Frankton? You could''ve just emailed me."
Frank smiled and held out a hand at Rina. "Your phone, please."
"Okay!"
Rina was all about the looks, passing him her phone mindlessly right then.
Frank then passed it to Jouri, who quickly worked on it while asking, "Have you scanned any strange QR codes, ma''am? The type where they give you a free plush?"
Jouri had encountered other cases resembling Rina''s, and it was clear she was a victim of deliberate exploitation.
However, phone security is currently at its best. Unless Rina had scanned some mysterious QR code or had their phone used by a third party, no one could impersonate her to take out a loan-not even sketchy financing tforms.
"No. I know those are a scam!" Rina shook her head without hesitation.
"Now that''s strange. Or perhaps someone else had ess to your phone?"
Just as Jouri finished, herptop jingled-the database clearly showed that Rina had used her phone to register into an online loan tform and took a loan of fifty grand!
"Are you sure you didn''t take that loan?" Jouri asked as she turned herptop toward Rina, showing it to her.
Rina shook her head confidently. "Do I look like I spent that much money?"
Jouri nodded. "That means someone must have essed your phone. Here- check the time when the app was downloaded, and try to remember what you were doing at the time."
Rina searched her mind, "I think I passed out, and my best friend took me home... Wait! But that''s impossible. How could she do this?"
"I was dead drunk too... the face recognition couldn''t have worked!"
Jouri smiled in wry amusement and clicked on the ledger. "That only applies to legal tforms that
always verify if it''s you. Sketchy
tforms are fine with just an
ID—hère, you can check the name. Is this your best friend?"
"I-It really was her!"
Rina was left gaping at the name recorded: Arya Crass!
It was not surprising that one should always be careful even with friends-Arya
was simply terrible, using Rina''s name to take out such a big loan!
However, before Rina could call her, someone kicked open the door, and twentyish people filed in.
And the leader was none other than Slick Hair. He was now bandaged in several ces after Frank threw him down the stairs, but he remained full of himself, even rearing his chin at Frank and the others.
"Hoho, you really have luck with
women, huh? He chuckled. "It''s just been a couple of hours, and there''s more! To be honest, I''m looking forward to this... How miserable would they look when they have to watch you getting beat up?"
Frank smirked."You really have no idea what''s good for you. It really was my fault, thinking that you''d call up someone important, but you''re sticking true to your gangster habits.
"But fine. I''ll y!"
As Frank stood up, flexing his muscles, Slick Hair was at once afraid.
Still, he soon found confidence in the twentyisk men standing behind him andughed. "You''ve really gotten ahead of yourself, kid! What, did you think you''re the world''s strongest martial artist or something?!"
