Sylvie and Frank left the chamber and continued onward.
The passage seemed to broaden the more they walked, and they were suddenly on top of a cliff!
With the light from Frank''s ring, Sylvie stared downward at the bottomless abyss.
"How is this possible?!" she eximed in shock. "This makes no sense, considering Shagan''s geography!"
Frank shrugged. "What''s so strange about it? Corpses can stand in here. A cliff is plenty logical."
Sylvieughed at her own blunder. "Makes sense. Nothing is all that shocking when zombies exist."
Putting a hand around her waist, Frank vaulted down the abyss, though they soon reached the bottom.
Their feet touched the cool waters of a stream, and Sylvie shuddered from the cold.
Seeing that, Frank put a hand on her shoulder to infuse her with warmth, quickly putting her at ease.
She was certainly overjoyed. "With that power, even exploring Antarctica won''t be an issue."
Frank remained silent, however, his eyes fixed on a narrow passage just ahead.
"What''s wrong?" Sylvie asked curiously.
"Start counting down from five..."
"Huh?"
"Then forget it!"
"What? What''s going on?"
"Surprise iing!"
Just as Frank finished, a light shed in their direction.
Soon, several people appeared and dashed straight for them!
They clearly noticed Frank and Sylvie, but they dashed past her without stopping
to gawk, as if the devil was on their heels!
"Damned grave robbers!"
Sylvie was livid and was ready to wheel on them and start yelling when the stream at their feet turned quiet.
She looked down to see that it was turning shallow and soon gone entirely.
Before Sylvie had time to wonder, countless snakes came slithering down the passage!
Frank smirked and raised his hand, sending them flying.
The tomb raiders heard themotion and turned to look.
They were left stupefied-what divine force was at work here? The swarm of snakes that put the fear of god in them were wiped out in an instant!
Their leader, a man in a red shirt, turned and walked up to Frank and
Sylvie, smiling in greeting. "Sir, ma''am. Are you here for some good ol'' piging too? Why don''t we band up? Strength in numbers, as they say!"
His thoughts were simple: it was so dangerous here, so forget getting their
treasure out—even escaping alive was a problem!
It was only by working together that they could leave this ce safely.
Scowling, Sylvie asked, "When did you boys get in here?"
Red Shirt had no idea who they were andughed. Not that long ago! We''re lucky we just wanted to check out this ce but soon found out that there''s actually a tomb that even archaeologists are afraid to explore, so we thought we could try our luck!"
Sylvie was at once furious. "Don''t you feel ashamed?! Everything here is national treasure! If you just pige it as you like, they could be lost to other countries! It''s a sacrilege to the nation!"
Red Shirt and his friends traded nces—in the end, these people were from the government?!
"Come on, girlie. What''s so wrong about making a living?" Red Shirt reasoned. "We''re adults. Right and wrong is really pointless, and only money talks. Oh, right-why don''t I share the good stuff with you?"
