Chapter 4: 4: Wife For Hire

Chapter 4: 4: Wife For Hire

"Let me just cut to the chase, Nn," my Dad sighed as he looked at me with that look he always

gives. "I''m not going to keep funding you, you idiot! Every time I look in your expenses it''s thousands

blown on shenanigans and girls." He furrowed his thick eyebrows, and I rolled my eyes while my

brotherughed in the chair next to me.

"But-" I began to object, but he put his hand up.

"I don''t want to hear it." He spat, disappointed in me I assume. "How am I supposed to trust you with

money and fortune if you don''t know how to be responsible?"

    "Dad, let me just exi-"

"Save it, Noel!" He stood to his feet in anger and that''s when I knew, this time he was serious. He''s had

this talk with me many times. I imagined myself in this very same office, with this very same talk; at

eighteen, at twenty, and then at twenty-three. All the same results, but this time the tone was different.

"I''ve waited for you to clean up your act, your almost 30! When I was your age, I had your mother, and

we had you!" At that, Jared and I both stopped ying, and sighed heavily.

    "You''re serious, Dad?" Jared asked.

"As a fucking heart attack," he said simply, sitting back down. "I don''t want to see in here again, until I

see improvements." With that, he dismissed us both.

"Oh my fucking god, its actually happening!" I eximed, freaking out in the entrance office way. "What

the fuck am I going to do?" I asked my brother, who seemed amused by the situation.

"I guess... ask me for a job," he shrugged.

"So just because you''re boring and stupid, I have to suffer?" I asked him, making my way downstairs. If

I don''t get out of here I''m going to scream.

While we descended in the elevator, I thought of what I could possibly do to get him off my back. I don''t

want to change, and lead some boring adult life. There are too many cars to drive, too much money to

spend, and too much sex to have. I can''t quit now, I''m in the prime of my life!

"Wait a second," I thought out loud, catching my brothers attention. "If Dad''s only problem is that I don''t

have a wife, then its simple!" I grinned.

    "What''s simple?"

"I''ll get married. Then he can''t turn me down!" We exited the elevator, and Jared narrowed his eyes at

    me.

"And who exactly will you be marrying?" He asked, with a confused look on his face.

"I''ll hire someone," I said simply. "One thing you need to learn little brother," I started. "Money can buy

    anything. Including people."

"Oh... right... of course," he trailed off sarcastically. "So you''re spending more money irresponsibly, in

order to continue to spend money irresponsibly?" He asked, and I nodded in excitement.

"It''s brilliant. And he ims I''m not a good business man."

"Yeah, it''s quite the investment," he said in a snarky tone. "And who is going to be desperate enough to

do that?" Just as he answered that question, we walked past the conference room where I noticed a

girl setting up. A light immediately went off in my head, and I decided to try it out on her.

I made my way to the back of building, where I knew she woulde out from, my brother Jared

trailing not too far behind. Not too many minutester, the door opened slowly.

"Oh my goodness, Ben," I heard a soft voice say. "If only I had enough money already, I would have

been out of here!" My eyes lit up hearing those words, and I looked at my brother excited. "I''m tired of

being looked down on by these people. I just want to be a revered psychologist already."

"With your paycheck?" The kid responded.

Jared stared at me wide eyed, just as surprised as me. You can call it fate, or divine intervention, but I

wasn''t going to waste this opportunity. I ran quickly after her, calling after her. They both screamed, and

she inched her car, knocking me to the ground.

"NO!" she shouted, bending down beside me. "Are you okay?" She asked nervously.

"Yeah," Iughed, looking up at her. She actually wasn''t bad looking. She had long, dark waves in her

head, and bright blue eyes that suited her pale skin. "I guess I shouldn''t have scared you," Iughed,

standing back up to my feet.

"Did I do something wrong?" She asked in a way that made her seem so innocent.

"No, of course not," I sighed. "Do you mind if we talk in private?" I asked, peering over at Ben.

"Sure," she agreed. "Go wait in the car Ben."

Once he was gone, I wanted to hurry before I lost my nerve. "Well I couldn''t help but overhear your

conversation and I really think I can help you," I exined.

"What?" She asked, seemingly angry at me. "You were spying on me!?" She screamed, and my eyes

    widened in fear.

"No way!" I eximed, getting freaked by her allegations. "I just was smoking and I overheard," I lied.

"Oh," she said simply. "How do you think you can help me?" She asked.

"Let''s not discuss it here," I said. "Under the circumstances of course. Take my card. It has my personal

number on it. Call me and we can set up a meeting." I tried to formal, so that I didn''t scare her away. IContent ? provided by N?velDrama.Org.

    hope that it worked.

I watched her drive away as my brother walked up to meughing. "This is the girl?" He asked with a

    sly smile.

"I think so," I said softly.

"She don''t seem like your type," he shrugged.

"Exactly," I smiled deviously. "She''s someone dad would like, and since I''m not attracted to her, it''ll be

easy to keep things professional." I told him matter-of-factly.

"That''s your grand n?" He asked with augh. "You shouldn''t y with people like that," he warned.

"This is gonnae back to haunt you."

I rolled my eyes at him, tired of his negativity. "You know what your problem is?" I asked. "You care too

much," I said seriously, causing him to scoff.

"And I suppose your problem is that you don''t care at all? And what if she doesn''t call you?"

"Trust me," I said confidently. "She''ll call."
