Amelia POV


    It is a week since the night of the party, the night when Dn kissed me and the night I felt whole again after a long time. Dn became nicer and didn’t boss me around like before but he was still strict.


    I knew he was ignoring me because the only words we shared were few words and it was always about business.


    “You are early today” Diana teased, I could tell that she looked different because she wasn’t wearing heavy makeup.


    “Wow Diana you look good” Iplimented her.


    She smiled at me for the first time.


    “Thank you, well I’ve decided to follow your advice” she replied smiling sweetly. I walk towards the elevator but then she called my name. “Amelia, the boss is not in. He called in sick or something ”


    “But he was fine yesterday,” I thought. howe he is sick? Is he ignoring me? “Amelia, I think you should go see him. You are his assistant, nurture him back to his feet” she said winking at me.


    “What? Okay, I’ll go see him but I don’t have his address ” I told her, she wrote something on a paper and gave it to me.


    ” go girl, I’ll tell the manager you are sick,” she said and I raised my brow at her. ” I got your back babe ” she whispered giving me a thumb up. I waved at her and walked out of thepany, I hailed a taxi and entered then I show the driver the address.


    “Are you an heiress? ” he asked but I shook my head. ” you know someone in this part of the city? “he asked and I nod.


    “Why are you asking mister? ”


    “Because only the rich and powerful live there and like you said you are no heiress so what are you doing in a ce like this,” he asked and that got me angry. What the fuck is wrong with this driver? And why does he cares about where I go.


    “Can you focus more on driving sir, it’s too early to have an ident”I shouted and that shut him up because he didn’t say anything throughout the rest of the drive?


    After thirty minutes of impatience, The driver stopped at the front of arge mansion. ” we are here ma’am ” he announced.


    I paid him and get out of the car, the driver gave me a creepy look before driving away.


    I walked towards the mansion and stared at its beauty, there was arge ck gate and the name ckstone was engraved on top of it, two securities walked to me as I neared the gate and asked for my business and identity.


    “I’m here to see Mr. ckstone, I’m his assistant and I need to see him ” I showed them my business ID but they still gave me some weird look.


    “I’m here for business purposes”. They spoke amongst themselves then they finally let me into the mansion.


    The mansion was beautifully painted in white color. A fountain was at the front of the mansion. Guards positioned themselves around the mansion like they were guarding it. When I entered the mansion I lost my voice because the interior was beautifully decorated, I had thought a mansion like this exist only in movies and stories but yet it existed in real life, and being inside one was a total blessing. The mansion is unexinable because I don’t know where to start from, they must be filthy rich to build this kind of home. This must be their family home because it was traditionally decorated. What am I doing here? Even after Reba threaten am still here because I cared about him


    “What are you doing Amelia?” I asked myself as I walked to the grand stairs.


    I could hear voices as I walked on the stairs, voices that belong to an old woman and a youngdy. What do I want here? This guy hates me more than dirt, the kiss we shared does not mean anything to him. Those we’re the thoughts that are going through my head. I inhaled deeply and took two steps backward and turned to leave.


    “Amelia” a voice called but I didn’t want to look at the person because I know who it was. “Amelia” he called again and walked down the stairs to meet me.


    “I was just about to leave ”


    “Leave? Why will you leave when you are already here. Diana informed me the minutes you left the office and when you arrived here the securities informed me of your presence. Why are you turning back? ” he asked me but I couldn’t give him an answer because I don’t have one. “Amelia am talking to you”


    “Yes, I came to see you because I heard you were sick, what personal assistant am I if I don’t check up on my sick boss? But it appears you are not sick”


    “Yes that right, Diana didn’t get my message well. It’s my grandmother. ” he said sadly, “she copsed this morning and I had to rush down here to meet her” he exined


    “Oh, how is she? “I asked waiting for a positive result.


    “She is doing fine, the doctor said she needs rest”. He said and I sighed in relief.


    “Okay, I think that my cue to go”


    “Why? Come meet my grandmother, she will be happy to see you ”


    “I don’t wanna intrude because it appears Anna is already with her,” I said sounding a little bit jealous.


    “Oh that, it doesn’t matter Amelia. My grandmother will be happy to see you,” he said but I wondered why his grandmother will be happy to see me I mean I broke Dn’s heart, all his family must hate me.


    Dn led me to a bedroom that was painted in blue.  The first thing I saw when I entered the room was a queen-sized bed and an old womany on it. two people sat beside her on each side. When I entered all eyes were on me, I could see Reba ring at me, Anna on the other hand sneered at me.


    “What is she doing here”? Reba asked quickly as I walked in.


    “She is here to see granny “Dn exined to them.


    “Why? She is not family only family are allowed here” Anna scoffed and hold the grandmother’s hand.


    “Stop it, Anna, she only cared ” Dn scolded her like a little child.


    “Oh really like she cared years ago ” she mocked.


    “I don’t want to be the cause of problems between families, I’ll just take my leave “I quickly said not wanting to witness fights and arguments.


    “Please do, we will be happy ” Annaughed. Someone coughed and they all stop talking and pay attention to the old woman in the room.


    “Grandma are you okay? ” Dn asked her, the grandma sit up with Reba’s and nod her head at Dn’s question.


    “Come my child, let me see your face” she called for me and I walked to her. “Your face looks pretty” she touched my face and smiled. “It’s soft too, your eyes are unique, you remind me of a girl I saw in a picture years ago in Dn’s room” she blurted out and the room grew cold, this granny knew about me. I looked at Dn and found him looking back at me. I smiled and hold her hand and massage it.


    “It so good to meet you, Mrs. ckstone, hope you are fine now? ” the old womanughed and I wonder why.


    “Mrs. ckstone? “Sheughed out loud, it was as if she wasn’t sick. ” Really child? I lose that name years ago when my sweetheart died. Ramos the love of my life I miss him. ” she said sadly. ” call me grandmother child. What is your name? ”


    “Amelia” I answered and she smiled.


    “Sweet name for a beautiful girl” sheplimented and I could feel my cheek turning pink.


    “Okay that’s enough, she needs to rest right now, take away her Dn and let your grandmother rest,” Reba said with a hint of jealousy in her voice.


    “Goodbye grandmother and please get well quickly so you can tell me stories about your sweetheart,” I said sweetly and she smiled.


    “Come visit me again child ” she replied. I smiled and left her side, Anna quickly went to her and began to talk to her, I thought Reba said she needed to rest. Dn and I left the room and sat in the living room.


    ” I think my granny likes you, she never talks about my grandfather to anyone. ” Dn said.


    “Well I’m special” I jokingly said and we bothughed. We both looked at each other and when it was bing awkward, I quickly look away. “I should go” I cleared my throat as Dn was still staring at me.


    “Why the rush?” He asked. ” take today off Amelia and besides you can’te to my house and not get the ckstone hospitality, so tea? ” he asked grinning. How can God create someone to be so perfect, his smile was charming. ” Amelia! ” he called my name.Property ? 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.

    “Okay, I’ll go inform the maid, I’ll be back before you know it,” he said and walked away to the kitchen I presume.


    “So you are here Brown, after all the threats and warnings. Don’t you value your mother’s life” Reba said as she walked into the living room. ” why are you so shameless? Clinging on a man that’s is engaged, a man that’s doesn’t want you. Your mother must be ashamed of you. ”  Her words we’re inflicted emotional injuries on me but she didn’t stop, she continued. ” you think you cane here and bond with Ste, stop acting as if you care. How do you think Ste will feel when she learns about who you truly are?” She grinned wickedly. ” leave while you still can or I’ll make sure your mother suffers for it” she threatened, before I could reply her Dn walked in with a tray of tea.


    ” Is everything alright here?” he asked suspiciously.


    “Yeah son, we were just talking. ” she said and look at me ” right Amelia? ” she asked and I nodded unable to say anything because if I do I’ll just cry. “Anna needs to see you, Dn, she is in your room,” she said but I could see Dn didn’t want to leave me alone. ” don’t worry I’ll keep herpany until youe back” she assured him.


    ” Okay I’ll see youter Amelia,” he said and walked away leaving me with an evil witch.


    “So Amelia where were we? ” she chuckled and took a seat opposite me. ” here take your tea” she hands it over for me to take but I felt reluctant ” she could have poisoned it with her words. “Don’t worry I didn’t poison it?” she said. As I stretched my hand to take the tea she deliberately let it go and the tea dropped to my hand. I screamed as the tea burned my hand. It was really hot. Reba grinned and pretend as if nothing happened. I looked at my scalded hand and held back the tears that’s were threatening to fall. . I stood up and faced her.  right now I got so angry that I felt like doing the same to her but I’m was not a bad person so I gave her a piece of her mind.


    “What are you so afraid of Reba? Are you afraid your son can’t get over me? Look around Reba even after you tried to separate us fate still bought us together. You can’t change something that is meant to happen, even after what you’ve done to my family, I never resented you for it, I never told Dn about how evil you are. but now I can see that you have no humanity in you for this Reba you would be lonely and miserable for the rest of your life. Tell Dn goodbye for me and tell Ste I’ll visit her soon. I can’t stand you like you can’t stand me cause sitting here with you is like drinking sand which is bad for the body. Have a good day Mrs. ckstone ” I smirked at her and walked out of the mansion not looking back to see her reaction. She deserved it, she deserved more than my words because she had caused me pain, she separated Dn and me, she made Dn hate me. I wonder why she resented me. I looked at my scalded hand and I knew it was going to leave a scar.
