Chapter 12


    “Let’s make this marriage work, Amber.” Rafael said while giving her a kiss on her temple. They are


    both lying on the bed, naked under the sheets of the nket. “And I’m serious, Amber.” He added.


    Amber doesn’t know what to react, she pinched herself for how many times to make sure that she’s not


    dreaming. But on every pinched she does, she feels the pain.


    “Hey! Stop doing that.” Rafael said and grabbed her hand. “You’re hurting yourself.” He added and


    kissed her cheeks that are now red due to her pinching. “I know that it is hard to believe, but I really do


    want this marriage to work. I want to work things up with you.”


    “But you don’t really know me, Rafael.” Amber said, her eyes are filled with worry.


    “That may be true, bute to think of it, you also don’t know me, Amber.” Rafael said. “Isn’t this a


    perfect time for us to get to know each other better?” He asked. “What can you say?”


    “O-okay.” She softly agreed making Rafael smiled and kissed her forehead.


    “But there is only one rule,” Rafael said staring at her eyes. “We will not talk about money, the contract


    or anything that is rted to money.” He continued. “I noticed that we are fighting when ites to


    those.” He added.


    “Okay.” Amber agreed; she thought that she’s the only one who noticed that the major reason of their


    fight is money but she thought wrong.


    She, herself also wants to stop their fighting and to work out their rtionship just for their unborn child.


    They can just be civil to each other.


    “Sleep now, wife.” Rafael said pulling her in his arms. “We will be busy tomorrow.” He said, perking her


    interest.


    “And why is that?” She asked.


    “We will go to the restaurant tomorrow.” Rafael informed making her flinch. “What’s wrong?” He asked


    ying with her hair.


    “I’m not confident paying a visit there, Rafa.” She sighed. “There might be rumors about me circting


    there.”


    “You don’t have to worry, Amber. I will be there with you.” Rafael reassured her but she can’t keep still,


    her heart felt heavy. “You didn’t do anything bad for them to gossip about you.”


    “Marrying your boss is enough for them to talk about me.” She sighed and moved closer to Rafael.


    “Don’t think too much about it.” Rafael said giving her a kiss on her forehead. “Sleep tight.”


    “Hmmm… Good night, Rafa.” She said before drifting to sleep.


    “I’ll just wait for you here in the car.” Amber said when Rafael parked his car outside the restaurant.


    “We already talked about this, Amber.” Rafael said and held her cold hands. “You’re worrying too much,


    hon.”


    “But…”


    “Hon, everything will be okay. I am here with you and whoever tried to spread rumors about you will be


    personally dealt by me.” Rafael sternly said and give her a reassuring look. Amber nervously nodded.


    Rafael smiled before going out the car, and opened the door for her. Rafael holds her hand as they


    approached the entrance.


    “Good morning, Sir Rafael.” Benny, the security guard greeted as he opened the door. Benny is the


    security guard from Gabriel’s security agency. “Sir Lohan is waiting for you.” He added.


    “Good morning too, Benny.” Rafael smiled; he’s always generous when ites to his employees


    really respect him. “I want you to meet Amber, my wife.” He introduced Amber making the guard awed


    in shock.


    “Miss Amber?” He eximed.


    “Good morning, Benny.” Amber shyly greeted.


    “So, the rumors circting around that you are Sir Rafael’s girlfriend is true, and now you’re married to


    him.” Benny uttered in shocked. “No wonder, Sir Rafael fired Antte immediately. I wonder what


    would be her reaction when she learned that you’re Sir Rafael’s wife now. She used to pick on you


    before.” He tsk.


    “That is why I didn’t hesitate to fire her upon learning that she’s abusing Amber and the other

    employees.” Rafael said and enveloped his around on Amber’s waist, pulling her closer to him.


    “Hey, man! I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.” A loud voice caught their attention, they turned


    around and she was shocked to see who it was. The man was evidently shocked but it seems that


    Rafael didn’t noticed it.


    “Hey, bro. Sorry, we werete.” Rafael said pulling her closer.


    “I thought both of you will not make it.” The man said looking at Amber with questioning eyes.


    “Amber this is Lohan Marquez, a good friend of mine and he’s the son of Judge Marquez.” Rafael


    introduced. “He is a friend who just recently showed up.” He added making Lohan grimaced.


    “Let’s just say that I’m exploring ces.” Lohan said.


    “Most likely, looking for your runaway fiancé.” Rafael said.


    “Whatever man, whatever!” Lohan shook his head and looked at her. “It’s nice to meet you, Amber.”


    Lohan said. “Who would’ve thought that you will be Rafael’s wife.” He added with a smile stered on


    his face, but she knew better that what he meant has another meaning.


    “Same here.” She said, making her voice casual, and looks around to ease the awkwardness she feels.


    “Ehm, there’s no customer?”


    “We will openter for dinner, I guess, since both of you werete.” Lohan answered.


    “And what does it have to do with us?” Rafael asked, frowning. But Lohan just grinned.


    “Wait here.” He said and went to the kitchen. Then one by one, the employees formed a line but they


    are surprised upon seeing her.


    “What’s happening?” Amber softly asked Rafael.


    “I have no idea what’s happening.” Rafael answered. “I guess this is Lohan’s idea.” He added.


    “This is to celebrate Rafael’s wedding to Miss Amber Santiago, or should I say Mrs. Amber Anderson.”


    Lohan said smiling. “Two days ago, Rafael and Amber got married hastily because Rafael here is head


    over heals to Amber and he can’t wait to call her his wife.” Lohan grinned at Rafael.


    “Oh, boy!” Rafael sighed, while Amber doesn’t know how to react, she can’t even look at her co-


    workers.


    “Congrattions.” The employees greeted them.


    “I know it is sudden but thank you.” Rafael said, smiling. Amber couldn’t say anything and just smiled


    there. Rafael can feel her being tensed so he held her hand tightly.


    “Now, bring out the cakes!” Lohan announced and the kitchen door suddenly opened and a four-


    “I prepared all of this for you two.” Lohan grinned. “Not only that, I asked the chefs to cook your


    favorites.” He added. “So, how is it?” Lohan asked.


    “You’re really crazy, Lohan.” Rafael said shaking his head before looking at his employees. “Thank you


    for all of this,” he said and ncing at the decorations that they just noticed. “As Lohan said, we were


    married hastily because I can’t just let go of Amber.” He smiled sweetly and looked at Amber who is


    speechless. “You probably know Amber as she used to work here, I am not aware that she’s working


    here, she kept it a secret from me, because she knows that I will not allow it.”


    “Then that exins why every time you pay a visit, Amber is alwayste.” One employeemented.


    “Yes.” Rafael smiled. “Some of you are here even though it is your day-off, thank you.” He smiled. “And


    Lohan’s sry for the whole month will be doubled and be distributed to all of you.” He said making his


    employees cheered.
