    Chapter 12: ?Peace?

    Quinn:

At dawn, I appeared at the address Damon had given me. I was standing in front of a little cabin, deep

in the woods, surrounded by tall forest trees. There were no houses, nor signs of human lives. It was

    perfect for me.

With the key he had given to me, I opened the wooden door and stepped into it. The lights were off but

I turned them on, eyes roaming the living room. It was not precisely big but It was okay. It had a two-

seater sofa and three couches with a firece. It also had a televisionpartment.

Grabbing my suitcase, I walked past the living room, dragging it behind me to see a door leading to the

kitchen. It was a modern kitchen with a pristine surface. How it was neat when it looked like it hadn''t

been visited for years surprised me. I concluded that he might have hired someone to get it cleaned for

    me.

Leaving the kitchen, I saw a hallway with three doors in it. The first which I opened was the bathroom,

the second was the restroom and thest which was down the hallway was the bedroom. It contained a

    king-sized bed, a walk-in closet, and also a tvpartment.

I opened the two windows overlooking the forest. Everywhere was eerily quiet, except for the chirping

sounds of birds as it was morning. It was the true definition of peace in its purest form. For the first time

since I escaped from the cell, I was at peace with myself. The confidence that I wouldn''t be found here

    was gratifying.

Abandoning my suitcase in the middle of the room, I fell on the soft bouncy bed, reveling in the

quietness that surrounded me. After a while, I decided to go hiking in the forest, to get acquainted with

every nook and cranny of it as I''d be staying there for a while.

I changed into boots and exited the house, walking into the forest through a tiny trail I''d found. The

forest was mostly tall trees and thick bushes but I didn''t mind. The sounds of birds and squirrels

brought life to it. I walked for a while till I got to a stream.

Stopping beside it, I looked into the water to see a reflection of myself. The water was as clear as day

that I could see the fishes swimming underneath it. I stood there for a while before deciding to continue

    my hike.

There were stones on the water so I climbed them to cross the stream to the other side. I walked into

the forest till I heard the loud sounds of flowing water. It was so loud that it drowned out the chirping of

the birds. I got to where it was to realize I was at the top of a hill with a waterfall.

The sight was beautiful. The sparkling water poured from the rocks, into the river below. Since the sun

wasn''t yet up in the sky, I sat there. Closing my eyes, peace embraced me while I listened to the

sounds of the water pouring into the river.

The soft rays of the morning sun fell on me, reminding me that the sun was out. Opening my eyes, I

stood to my feet and returned to the cabin. As soon as I got in, I hightailed for the room to take a nap. I

    needed it to function well.

The hooting of a distant owl woke me from my slumber. When I opened my eyes, it was dark outside.

The chirping of birds had stopped, making it eerily quiet. A light breeze blew into the room from the

windows I''d kept opened. The forest was illuminated by the light of the moon.

While I was still on the bed, a yawn slipped from my lips and at the same time, my stomach rumbled.

Thus, I was reminded of thest time I''d eaten which was the previous night.

Driven by hunger, I got out of bed and left for the kitchen. The first thing I did was to check the

refrigerator and luckily for me, it was stocked with foodstuff. I got the ingredients I''d need for my meal

and got to work instantly, preparingsagna.

Momentster, I was done cooking. I ditched it into a te, prepared to eat when the loud yelling of a

feminine voice filtered into my sensitive ears.

"You want to kill a woman? You''re pussies". She screamed out.

There was no one around me. The noise could be only from within the forest.

I sat still, waiting to hear another sound. The next thing I heard was the click of a trigger.

That had me speeding out of the house in search of whoever it was.

Before the bullet could hit its aim, I blurred to it, pausing its movement and that of the individuals. With

everything paused, my eyes scanned them and theynded on the woman.

    It was the nun.
