Hannah contemted entering Ethan’s room and inquiring about the reason for his strange behavior.
However, she chose to postpone the conversation until after she returned from work that evening.
Almost an hourter, David emerged from their bedroom, looking handsome and well-dressed.
He encountered Ethan in the living room, engrossed in the television. David approached him, standing directly in front of him.
“Hi, cripple dude,” he greeted with a wide grin, waving at him.
Ethan remained silent, coldly observing him.
“You know, you’re starting to annoy me, Ethan,” David began, crouching down to his level. “Your presence is causing a rift between me and Hannah, and it’s quite bothersome.”
“What’s more, your inability to mask your emotions has led Hannah to suspect us,” he continued, ending with a smug smirk on his face. “But don’t worry, I’ve taken care of it.”
Ethan remained unresponsive, his gaze fixed on David’s face.
“I told Hannah that perhaps your strange behavior is due to your tiredness of living here with us,” David revealed, but Ethan showed no reaction.
“So if you know what’s good for you,” he warned, pping his hands on Ethan’s thighs and staring into his amber eyes. “Don’t say a word to Hannah, or else…”
He abruptly stood up and dragged Ethan by his legs, causing him to fall out of his wheelchair onto the floor.
Ethan let out a soft cry, but he suppressed his pain, refusing to show it on his face.
“That’s just a warning. If Hannah so much as suspects that I’ve brought another woman into this house, you’ll regret evering here,” David threatened fiercely before storming off.
No matter how hard he tried, Ethan couldn’t hold back the tears in his eyes. They cascaded down his face, and he finally allowed himself to release the emotions he had been holding in.
The tears flowed, like a dam breaking within him. He wept as if his life wereing to an end. However, there was no one present to offer him sce.
In the evening at the elegant vi of Nelson.
Leni and her mother-inw chuckled at aedy program they were watching when Nelson came back from the office.
He had expected to see even a hint of remorse on Susan’s face, but to his amazement, she remained unperturbed as she carried on conversing with Leni about the program.
Fuming, Nelson stormed off and ascended the stairs, headed for his bedroom.
“Don’t trouble yourself on my behalf, Mother. I’m confident he’lle around soon,” Leni eloquently replied to Susan, who simply nodded, her face beaming.N?velD(ram)a.?rg owns this content.
“Seeing him in this state, I’m sure he won’t join us for dinner. So you’ll have to bring it to him upstairs, alright?” Susan suggested, and Leni understood, rising from her chair and springing into action.
After a brief knock on the door, Leni entered the room, holding arge tray covered in dishes.
She was relieved not to find him there, and as she carefully ced the tray on the coffee table in the center of the room, she noticed him walking towards her.
She lifted her eyes and beheld him, draped only in a pristine white bath towel, revealing his muscr upper body.
Drops of water cascaded down his toned abs and onto his private area, entuating his masculine appeal and his cold, handsome countenance.
Unconsciously, Leni swallowed and hastily turned away.
“What did I tell you about over-exaggerating in front of my mother?” Nelson seethed, his voice dripping with bitterness.
“I am merely following your instructions, Mr. Carter. You told me never to let your mother discover the true nature of our marriage,” Leni retorted, her eyes steeling themselves, mirroring Nelson’s.
“The nerve,” Nelson growled, and in the next instant, he was standing directly in front of Leni, clutching a fistful of her hair.
Leni was gobsmacked. The shock etched onto her face was palpable, as she had never anticipated such actions from him.
“I expressly told you to stop feigning genuine affection and giving my mother unwarranted hope!” Nelson bellowed at her, exerting more pressure on her hair.
“Are you out of your mind? Let me go this instant!” Leni snapped, struggling against his powerful grasp.
“Quit acting like you’re madly in love with me in front of my mother. I can’t stand it! And like I’ve said before, you are thest woman I could ever contemte falling in love with. In fact, you disgust me,” Nelson spat, seething with anger. If he were a dragon, he would have been breathing fire.
Leni writhed and scrambled onto the bed. “You disgust me too, you despicable bastard!” she shrieked, gritting her teeth in pain as she also grabbed hold of Nelson’s hair.
Nelson was taken aback. He knew how unpredictable Leni could be, but he never imagined she would retaliate in kind, grabbing onto his hair just as fiercely as he had grabbed onto hers.
“I loathe pretending to be with you. I loathe that people see you as my husband when I actually despise you with every fiber of my being,” Leni screamed, still struggling to hold onto his hair despite its shorter lengthpared to hers.
Nelson forcefully pulled her back to the floor, but Leni refused to release his hair. She was now clinging onto it as though her life depended on it.
“Let go of my hair this instant before I make you regret your actions!” Nelson growled, his nostrils ring in anger.
“You let go of my hair first, you imbecile!” Leni retorted, already drenched in sweat from the intense struggle.
Nelson grunted, feeling sharp pains in his scalp. With one powerful shove, he pushed Leni away, causing her to tug on the towel wrapped around his waist. However, the towel came loose, revealing his naked body.
“Ahhh!!!” Leni screamed upon seeing his manhood, letting go of the towel in shock before running into the nearby bathroom and locking the door behind her.
Filled with embarrassment, Nelson tightly shut his eyes, not even attempting to conceal his nakedness. In his entire life, he had never felt so mortified.
Minutes had ticked by, but Leni had yet to emerge. Nelson had d in his pajamas,y on the bed, anticipating her appearance.
However, Leni stubbornly refused toe out. She paced back and forth in the bathroom with frantic movements, weeping softly. She knew she was as good as dead once Nelson caught her, which is why she chose to stay inside.
Nelson couldn’t help but feel worried as the silence dragged on. Against his better judgement, he left the bed and stormed towards the bathroom, jiggling the locked doorknob.
“Come out now, Leni!” he gravely ordered, pounding his fist on the door.
“Please, Mr. Carter. Forgive me. I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to… to…” Leni’s sobs echoed from inside the bathroom as she shook her head, dreading what fate awaited her if she stepped out.
“I would dly leave you in there to perish if my mother weren’t so concerned. Now,e out while I’m still being kind,” Nelson bellowed, banging on the door once more.
“No, Mr. Carter. You may go ahead and sleep. I’ll be fine in here,” Leni stubbornly insisted.
“Fine then! Suit yourself,” Nelson huffed, turning away and retreating back to his bed.
Thoughts of Leni consumed Nelson as he attempted to drift into slumber. Every time he closed his eyes, she appeared in his mind, making it impossible to sleep. He remained in that state, unsure why he kept hoping for her toe out.
As dawn neared, Leni slowly unlocked the door and stepped out, finally.
Themp provided the only source of illumination in the dimly lit room, and Nelson closed his eyes, so that Leni would think he was asleep.
He couldn’t see her clearly, but he watched her through his half-closed eyes as she tiptoed around the room and eventually settled on the bare floor, in her usual position near the bed.
After what seemed like an eternity, Nelson was certain that she had fallen asleep. He cautiously got up and retrieved her bedding, trying not to make any noise that could wake her up.
With gentle movements, he lifted her and carefully ced her on the duvet he hadid out earlier.
He found himself unable to look away from her face for a moment, before he finally covered her body with another duvet and returned to his own bed, letting out a relieved sigh.
It didn’t take long for him to drift off to sleep as well.
