Evelyn POV


    The traffic was finally sorted out and in a few minutes, I was already in the office.


    I parked my car neatly at the parking lot, and wore my sunss, before stepping out, after which I alighted, and started walking to the entrance door. By the time I got inside, everyone were already present behind their desks, getting busy. Just wow, I guess I’m the only e here, what do I expect, when I came to work around 10am, instead of 7am, who does that.


    “Hi guys.” I shed a smile at the busy people.


    “Wow, you’re finally here.” The director from days ago, smiled at me. I think I still remember his name, Lemuel.


    “Hi!” I waved at him.


    “Hi Eve, you’re wee to work with us.” Ady of about my age, smiled at me, while beckoning on me toe sit beside her. I guess that’ll be my permanent seat.


    I nodded briefly, and shed a smile, as I walked over to the seat, and sat down, before letting out the breath, which I’ve been holding unknowingly.


    “Hi! I’m Brittany.” She smiled at me.


    “I’m Evelyn, but you can call me Eve.” I returned the smile, feeling ufortable with the whole thing. You wouldn’t me me, right? I haven’t been in the midst of so many people before, and I’m quite unfamiliar with these people, so it’s ok to be ufortable on my first day, right?


    “It’s nice, meeting you.” She smiled at me, before taking her attention to herputer.


    Letting out a small sigh, I sat down confusingly, not knowing what to do. There’s no file on my desk, so I think I’m just gonna sit back here, and wait for orders.


    The sound of heels, clicking on the floor, got my attention, and raising my head to check who it was, I was weed with a very beautiful and sexy woman, walking elegantly towards me. She finally stopped, once she got to me, maintaining a straight face. The noise in the office died down, as silence took over the entire ce. I didn’t need anyone to tell that she must be someone important in thepany, and will be very strict, not to worry, I know how to deal with such people.


    “Hello miss Eve.” She greeted.


    “Hello.” I replied simply, looking at her confusingly.


    “Here’s the files you should sort out, make sure that they’re ready before 11am. I want to see you in my office, now.” She said, as she dropped a heap of files on my desk, and with that, she turned and walked away.


    What! Is she nning to kill me? It’s just a few minutes to 11am, how does she expect me to get all these done, huh? I’m so in for some shit.


    “You wouldn’t wanna waste anymore minutes here Eve, you wouldn’t like what she’ll do.” Brittany’s voice sounded through my ear, and I almost jumped out of my skin. Why the heck didn’t I turned down this job offer when they gave me? I’m going to lose my life before my time, all thanks to Apple Cosmicpany. I wish Harry is here, he would’ve helped me out, but too bad, I can onlye here alone, since I’m now a staff here.


    “Hey Eve, I’ll help with that, just go already.” A masculine voice sounded behind me, and tilting my head to check where it came from, I was weed with Lemuel, smiling at me.


    Phew! He’s a life saver. I don’t care if it’s gonna implicate me or him, I really need to do this. As much as I want to decline the offer, seeing the invisible fire, burning around me, I can’t be so foolish to say no.


    “Thank you.” I said, as I stood up, and turned to Brittany.


    “Brittany, please show me the way to her office.” I said.


    “Oh sure.” She said, as she stood up and started walking away, while I trailed behind her.


    After walking for a few minutes, we finally stopped in front of a door, and she nodded to me, before walking away.


    Taking a deep breath, I ced a soft knock on the door.


    “Come in.” Came the familiar voice, and taking a deep breath, I twisted the doorknob, and peeked in, before walking in fully.


    Stepping into the office, I found her sitting behind her desk, with her rapt attention on the screen of theputer ced on the desk in front of her, as her fingers moved in a fast pace on the keyboards, making clicking sounds.


    “You called me.” I said, making sure to be careful of my tune. I don’t take shit, I watch my words before I spill them, but trust me, you wouldn’t wanna mess with me.


    “Comingte to the office, is the most strict rules of thepany, and will therefore not be condoned. Make sure that such act doesn’t repeat itself again, because you’ll be hold ountable for the damanges.” She said, not raising her gaze to look at me.


    What the heck! Is she mad or something? Oh heavens! Look who’s trying to mess with you Eve, but I’ll be calmed though.


    “Ok.” I said simply. You wouldn’t want me apologizing, would you? I mean, why should I? To start with, she don’t have manners, can you imagine she didn’t even weed me, but acting all bossy. I don’t think I’llst for so long here, coz I may end up fighting things out with her.


    Turning around, I walked to the door, and opened it, before walking out angrily. I can’t believe my day is ruined just on my first day of being here, well, all thanks to that serious woman, I don’t know her name, and I don’t ever wanna know her. If today is this bad, only God knows what the rest of the months or years to spend here, will be like.


    I took the direction, through which I came in earlier, and soon, I was standing in front of the door to our office. Taking a deep breath, I opened the door to walk in, but collided on someone, and almost fell down, but someone held me back by the waist.


    I managed to get on my feet, and adjusted my clothes, before looking up to check who just saved my ass, but almost froze on my spot, as I was weed with the least expected person…? N?velDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
