Chapter 48: Im Afraid Of Losing You

Chapter 48: I''m Afraid Of Losing You

"Alvera..." Antoine''s eyes were full of sorrow.

He almost couldn''t suppress his love and love for her. He didn''t know what to do.

Alvera looked at him, smiling, then picked up a slice of pizza and began eating.

She only took tow bites before putting it down again. "That''s not good."

    Antoine frowned.

She pulled out a tissue and wiped her mouth.

"Antoine, people change. When we were young, we could ride our bicycles and dream of a bright

future, but now we''re all adults. We have our own lives, our own visions, and people that we want to

protect. Our futures do not connect at all, so we should all take a step back. I don''t hate you anymore,

and you should let go of me. It''s enough that my mother was hurt because of me, I don''t need another

person to do that for me."

    ...

After that, she stood up. "You can pay for the pizza. Goodbye."

She took two steps towards the door. Antoine stayed in his seat, but he said slowly, "Alvera, I''m not

afraid of getting hurt. It''s also a way of growing up, but I''m really afraid of losing you. It doesn''t matter if

you don''t love me. I''ll choose my own way to continue to love you, because... I want to live."

Alvera felt her heart leap painfully at his words. She bit her lower lip and left without turning back.

When she arrived back at the office, she did not take the elevator up. Instead, she took the stairs.

With every step, she muttered to herself, "Antoine Francois, I don''t love you anymore. Antoine

    Francois, we''re done."

On the ninth floor, she spun and sat down on the steps.

She was very tired. Her body was in no condition for physical exercise.

At half-past two in the afternoon, Beverly received a call, got up, walked to Alvera''s desk, and said,

    "Come out with me."

Alvera took a look at her, put down her work and followed her to the door.

Beverly crossed her arms in front of her and spun around to face her. "The 10,000 printers have

arrived. Go down and unload them."

    "Why me?"

"You made the mistake on the form."

Alvera sighed. "Have you forgotten what Mr. Francois said yesterday? Both of us were wrong."

"What do you mean by that, newbie? I can''t get you to do your work now? Should I tell Manager Wilson

about this, or do you want to talk this out with Mr. Francois again?"

Alvera felt disgusted at the mention of Rnd.

She rolled her eyes at Beverly and walked downstairs.

Beverly looked at her, smirking, then went back to the office.

Seeing that Alvera did note back in, Patrick asked, "Beverly, where''s Alvera?"

    Beverly smiled disdainfully. "The warehouse."

Patrick ignored her smirk and went out.

Alvera was stunned when she arrived at the door of the warehouse. There were more than a dozen

    trucks there.

She sighed. She felt bad for the warehouse workers who had to do extra work on such a hot day

because of this mistake, so she ran up to help.

    ...

The warehouse manager pulled her back. "Hey, is it just you? I asked Beverly to get some people down

to help, and she sent a weak littledy like you? Is this some kind of joke?"

Alvera was also ufortable. She knew that Beverly was trying to set her up, but she could not do

anything about it. She did not want to see Rnd again.

She gave the warehouse manager an embarrassed smile, rolled up her sleeves and stepped forward to

    help.

Fortunately, the printers were not very heavy.

    Patrick arrived a little whileter.

She smiled at him. "Patrick, why are you here?"

"Why can''t Ie? It''ll take you until tomorrow to finish moving all these printers."

As he spoke, he had already started to help. As a man, he was significantly faster than her.

They worked tirelessly for two hours, but there were still more than two thirds of printers to unload.

Alvera was already at her limit.

She was so tired that she squatted down and rested one hand on the edge of the truck, sweating

heavily from the pain and exhaustion.

When Patrick came out of the warehouse and saw her like this, he was rmed. "What''s wrong,

    Alvera? Are you okay?"

Alvera noddedboriously. "I''m just a little tired. I just need a quick break and I''ll be back at it soon."

"That''s fine, I can work for both of us. Take a break," Patrick told her, then went back to work.

    ...

However, when he came back again, he heard some warehouse workers shouting, "Hey, miss, wake

    up!"

He ran forward quickly and pushed through the crowd.

    Alvera had fainted.

He quickly took out his mobile phone and called for an ambnce.

He patted Alvera''s face lightly. "Alvera, Alvera."

Alvera did not respond at all.

No one dared to move her because they did not know why she had fainted suddenly.

When the ambnce finally came to take her to the hospital, Patrick followed them.

At the CEO''s office, Terry pushed open the door hastily without knocking.

"Boss, Alvera fainted suddenly and was sent to the hospital in an ambnce."

Rnd''s hands trembled as his heart shrank. He stood up and walked out.

His looked so nervous that even Terry was surprised.

When he arrived at the hospital, he found Alvera in the general ward.

She was still asleep with an IV drip in her arm. There was no one around her.

Rnd walked to her side, frowned, and gently touched her cheek.

    It was a little warm.

    "Terry, transfer Alvera upstairs immediately."

    "Yes, sir."

Terry immediately went to arrange for someone to take her upstairs.

Patrickpleted the admission procedures and came back to the nurses pushing Alvera out of the

    general ward.

    "Nurse, what''s going on?"

Terry stepped forward and told him, "We''ll be handling Ms. Alvera from now on. You can go back to

    work now."

    "Terry?"

As they were speaking, Rnd walked out of the room as well.

"Do you know why she fainted?"

"She was unloading some stock in the warehouse just now. I think she was just too tired."

    "Unloading stock? What stock?"

"The 10,000 printers that were mistakenly ordered arrived, and the warehouse called us to send some

people to help. Beverly Moore took the chance for revenge and let Alvera go alone, which I only found

out when I went down to help her. There''s still a lot of trucks at the warehouse now."

    ...

Rnd''s expression became chilly. "Okay, you can go back."

"Okay." Patrick nodded and handed over the paperwork to Terry.

Alvera was put into a private ward. "Go back to the office," he told Terry.

    N?velDrama.Org: text ? owner.

    "Okay, Boss."

    "Fire that Beverly Moore immediately."

"Yes." Terry conceded and went back to thepany.

Rnd sat by her bed and watched her alone.

He was worried as she still hadn''t shown any signs of waking up.

Alvera did not want to wake up because she was having a beautiful dream.

In her dream, she was strolling by the beach with her mother.

She nestled her head on her mother''s shoulder like a happy child.

"Mom, look, that''s my house. We can live there together peacefully. We don''t need to see the Earhart

    family anymore."

"I''ve always known that you would seed. You didn''t disappoint me."

    Alveraughed happily.

"I want you to be happy, Alvera," her mother continued.

Alvera looked at her. "I''m happy when you''re with me."

"Alvera, you''ve grown up. I can''t be with you forever. Don''t make me worry about you. I hope my

daughter can live a happy life full ofughter. Don''t let revenge cloud your judgement. They''re not worth

it, Alvera. Leave this ce and live the life you want."

Tears welled up in Alvera''s eyes. "I will be happy as long as you don''t leave me."

Her mother faded away as she stared at her through blurry eyes.

She tried to hold on to her, but her hands grabbed at thin air instead.

    "Mom... Mom..."

Rnd reached out and held the hand that she had lifted while she was sleeping.

He had watched as sheughed then suddenly became sad agian in her dreams

He did not know what happened in her dreams, but it made him sad too.

"Don''t leave me, mom, take me away, mom, please, take me away, I want to go with you," she

    murmured suddenly.

"Don''t go," Rnd said, holding her hands tighter. "Alvera, don''t go."

As her mother''s figure disappeared, a voice sounded beside Alvera, "Don''t go, Alvera."

Alvera fell to her knees and burst into tears.

Rnd watched as her eyes twitched under her eyelids. She was sobbing faintly from her nose, and

    tears rolled down her cheeks.

    She was crying.

This was the first time he saw her cry.

She had never shed a tear before when she was awake.

He bent down and hugged her gently, patting her shoulder andforting her.

    Alvera opened her eyes suddenly.

When she sensed Rnd right in front of her, she tensed up.

Rnd looked at her with his head tilted.

"You''re awake." His voice was very soft.

Alvera gritted her teeth and red at his hand holding hers. "Why did you wake me? You assh*le, why

are you ruining my dreams as well? My mother disappeared because of you!"

"She''s already gone." Rnd grabbed her by the shoulders. "You need to wake up."

When she heard her low voice, her heart fell to the pits of her stomach as her brain snapped back into

    reality.

Yes, her mother was gone, killed by the Earhart family.

    ...

She had watched her mother die under the bridge in a puddle that night.

She felt something cold running down her nose, and lifted her hand to touch her face.

    It was tears.

She wiped away her tears and looked around.

It was a hospital ward again.

Ever since the liver transnts, she kept ending up in the hospital.

She looked at the IV drip on the back of her hand.

"When can I leave the hospital?" When she spoke, her voice had be as cold as before.

"Leave the hospital? You''re not well, do you want to die?"

Alvera smile, beautiful but sad. "If I die, that would be great news for you, won''t it?"
