    When I returned to my office, I noticed that Kim was acting different. She was quite civil and refrained from making impertinentments that used to annoy me. She even apologized to me for what she did. I didn’t know what was going on with her but I hoped it would continue. She was much more bearable with her mouth closed. I found it odd that she worked really hard during those days and was willing to help out.

It was not that I was jealous but there were employees who deserved the award more than Kim and I.     “Disappointing, right?” Sara, a workmate said when she met meing from the direction of the noticeboard.


    I nodded, agreeing with her. I was not a fan of her opinions but I thought she was right that time.


    “Congrattions,” I told Kim as I opened my office door, making sure not to make eye contact with her. I was angry at Kyle Miller, the HR who was is in charge of the award.     “Afternoon, Maya.” He smiled. He was a wearing a blue suit and it was slightly bigger than his usual size but looked good. His ck shoes were shiny as always. “I found this new restaurant in town that I’d like us to try.”

    “With Anna?”


    I shook my head. “Edward.”


    “Edward from Landmark Insurance?” He asked, his eyes lingering on my face. I was not sure whether his expression was one of sadness or disappointment. Regardless of what it was, I don’t like seeing him that way but it had to be done.


    “Yeah.”


    “I see,” he said and walked out before I could say another word. I pulled out my phone and started dialing Edward’s number. When Edward didn’t pick, I called another friend of mine and left the office.


    When I returned, Kim was not yet back. A few minutester, there was a knock on the door.


    “Come in,” I said.


    My heart almost stopped when I saw Zane Carrington walking in. He was looking very handsome in a dark blue suit.


    As he strode in, I stood up, my heart pounding loud against my chest


    “Good afternoon, Mr. Carrington.”


    “It’s been a while,” he said. “I have not forgotten that kiss.”

    “Do you regret that it happened?” he asked, his green eyes boring into mine.


    I shook my head and he stepped closer. He looked in my eyes. For a moment I wondered what he was up to but that was soon forgotten because he kissed me.     “We can’t,” I said.

    “Not here,” I said, surprising myself. At any other time, I may have yed hard to get and acted like this was not what I wanted. But, on that day, I couldn’t. I said the truth because there was a possibility that would be my only chance to experience the wonders of Zane Carrington.


    Zane gave me a lingering peck on the lips. “I’ll take you home.”


    He waited for me finish packing my essentials and we walked together into the elevator. When we got out, people in the ground floor stared at us. Sherry couldn’t even hide the shock on her face.     “Water, please.”


    Zane walked towards the kitchen and brought cold bottled water and a ss. After that, he returned to the kitchen. As I poured water into a ss, I heard him walking in. He ced a bottle of wine and two sses on the table before standing up.


    My body stiffened when he touched my shoulders with his smooth hands, making my skin warm up. I felt him lean closer and a breath of warm air fanned my skin. This sent a charge through my body, making ite alive instantly.


    “What are you doing?” I inquired, making no attempt to stop him. I felt a shiver travel down my spine and leaned to the left side so he could have more ess. My lips parted when I felt his on the base of my neck. I wanted him to take me right there and I knew in my heart that I was desperate for it.


    His right hand travelled to my waist, exploring it slowly and I turned around to face the beautiful man I wanted so much. His eyes burned into mine with intensity.

    When we pulled away, we stare at each other in silence not knowing what to say. Suddenly, Harry lifted me up and carried me past the living towards the bedroom.
