Valerie’s pov


    I immediately turned and fixed my eyes on the door, There was no one there, I sat upright in the bed thinking about the moment Carson and I shared in the gallery room before I bolted out.


    I couldn’t control my thoughts from wandering. Carson had been on my mind. That vile man had the guts to steal my first kiss. He will hear from me first thing tomorrow morning as soon as I step out of my room. Iid my head to rest and after continuous turns and twists on the bed, I finally closed my eyes.


    I was awakened by a knock on the door. Who could be bothering me by this time of the night? “Who is that?” I mumbled the question with my eyes closed.


    “It is me, J”, I was confused, Why was Jing to knock on my door sote at night? Regardless of how puzzled I was, I still answered her.


    “Come in” I heard the creaking noise of the door that indicated that she had opened the door and stepped inside, Then it abruptly closed.


    “May I get the bathtub ready?” J asked in a low voice. With my puzzled thoughts, I asked J the question that was reurring in my head after she had spoken about the bath. “Bath? It’s sote at night. Go to bed.” I said in an annoyed voice.


    I heard a subtle giggle then approaching footsteps that were heading towards my bedspace. “Ma’am it’s morning,” J said


    “It can’t be morning yet, I just slept,” I said, slightly opening my eyes and seeing how bright my room was.


    “Perhaps I should give you more time to sleep” J teased, I would have agreed but I wanted to see Carson. He had been on my mind all night to the point I was even hallucinating.


    “No dear, there will be no need for that, I’ll have my bath now” I sighed inck of sleep.


    A few minutes passed and it was time to get rid of the sleep germs as my mother liked to say.


    I got into the bathtub and immersed my whole body into the hot and foamy bath, My thoughts wandered tost night and my face turned beet red instantly, I scrubbed my body thoroughly to get rid of the thoughtsing to my head but nothing seemed to stop my mind from reying the night.


    When I got out of the shower, J was waiting for me with clothes on the bed. She probably wants me to decide on what to wear today.


    “I have selected these outfits, Please make a pick” J mouthed the words in excitement.


    I shifted ufortably from the bathroom entrance to where the clothes wereid out for me to pick. They were different kinds of outfits but they were mostly dresses. I got a weird thought but I decided to ask anyway.


    “What is Carson’s favorite color?” I swallowed hard as my face couldn’t hide how embarrassed I was. J cleared her throat and gave me a long stare before answering my question.


    “Yellow ma’am, Why?” J asked and I didn’t have any answer to the question, Why was I asking? Why did I bother?


    “Yellow, that is quite odd, I will go with the red dress” I shrugged my shoulders and sat on the bed.


    “As you wish ma’am” J shed a quick smile before going ahead to dress me up.


    “What is the n for today? I want to meet Carson” I asked bluntly.


    “Well sir has arranged for you to continue to tour the mansion grounds, He has asked not to be disturbed and he will be busy,” She said.


    So now he’s too busy for me? This man gets on myst nerve. Just this once I was looking forward to seeing him, But wait a minute, why do I even care if he’s busy? It is not like I genuinely wanted to see his face.


    “Okay, I want to explore the archery range” I’ve been told that there is a ce like that in this mansion and I’ve been wanting to go ever since.


    “Whatever you wish ma’am,” J said


    “Ah ah ah, what did I say about you calling me ma’am,” I said as a frown creased my forehead. “I am sorry, it won’t happen again” J apologized before she looked at me. I had a warm smile on my face and her face lit up.


    I got dressed and left the room. The bodyguard that was outside my room when I was going through the whole poison crisis was following us at our back. It was probably for security reasons.


    We went out in the open and had to use another door to get to the archery range, Truly this house was massive, and I thought we were going to get lost.

    It hadnes for shooting arrows. and there are targets set up at different distances. It has a cool and focused vibe. The only problem I had was that I didn’t know how to aim to save my life.


    “Go on” J nudged me, go forward and try. But I didn’t want to harm myself or anyone by mistake just because of my inexperience


    “Maybe some other time” I smiled and we walked to another side of the mansion.


    This time I was taken to the aquarium, Carmen would’ve loved it here. She enjoyed such scenery, It was a beautifully designed wall with arge ss panel showcasing a stunning underwater world. The aquarium is filled with colorful fish, vibrant corals, and maybe even some unique sea creatures. It adds a touch of tranquility and elegance to the house, creating a captivating focal point for everyone to enjoy. As I sat to watch the underwater creatures. I couldn’t help but think about how my life was once peaceful with my family members.


    With that thought an idea finally hit me and I turned to look at J with excitement evident in my eyes.


    “Carson will be away and busy right?” I asked
