Chapter 45


    *Kat’s Pov


    “So that’s the story of Ryder and mine.” I concluded with a dramatic bow after telling them a not so


    short version of Ryder and my meeting 20 years back till now. As I waspleting the second floor


    structure design Ryder asked me to go have my lunch more like pulled me out of my seat to have


    lunch. When I am doing something I get too immersed in it that I have forgot to have my food multiple


    times which literally made me faint in multiple asions as well.


    As I promised I dragged Raven along with me to the cafeteria and sat along with Martha and Jason.


    Before I could even sit Jason bombarded me with so many questions about our rtionship and after


    getting fed up with his questions I decided to give himplete details of our rtionship from all lovey


    dovey to hatred back to… Speaking of which Ryder and I really haven’t talked about where we stood,


    for now all I know is that we are making up for the lost times.


    “Never did I think brick-faced-taking-no-shit-yboy CEO can be so gentle and loving boyfriend. With


    the way he was I thought for him women were like a piece of clothing and nothing else.”


    “Well you don’t want your boss to hear you said that. Do you?” Ryder said from behind me.


    We all gasped and turned around to see him standing with his hands on my chair. He had a smirk on


    his face looking at our petrified face.


    “G-G-Good A-Afternoon Mr. Scott” I heard Jason speak behind stuttering his words. Poor guy he


    looked like he would pee on his pants now. Has Ryder literally made everyone so scared out of their


    wits?


    “Hearing from what you just said I think your boss is a big jerk with a huge ass. Is it?” Ry asked looking


    at Jason pulling an empty chair from a table next ours after asking if it is upied but received no


    answer since they too were looking at him as if he is a ghost.


    Martha created space next to me to which Ry thanked making her surprised and sat next to me. Seems


    like Ry has never used golden words to anybody. Well we can’t expect a jerk with a face of a CEO to


    be polite.


    “No, our boss is the sweetest person in the whole world. He is so sweet that sometimes we have tears


    in our eyes. Out of respect though.” Jason wiped a barely there tear off his eyes before he gave it a


    chance to fall on his cheeks. Iughed hearing hisment. Someone does know to kiss an ass.


    “Really? I heard that people cry cursing him to go to hell.” Ry taunted Jason and chuckled seeing him


    wipe his forehead off. Not only Jason but everyone in the canteen was sweating from his presence.


    God, what has Ry done to these poor souls? Though I don’t feel sorry for the bitches who is eyeing him


    like a piece of chocte. Ladies fuck off he is mine.


    “I am kidding. Breathe am not gonna eat you unless you mess things up again.” He chuckles and turns


    to me.


    “Have you eaten your lunch, love?” He asked so sweetly that I felt like crying.


    “No, I was just gonna start but then you came.”


    “I had send you here 20 mins ago what were you doing?” He was angry but not too angry to explode.


    “I was telling them about our story.” Before he could scold them I grabbed his arm and looked at him


    innocently. “Of how sweet and caring of a boyfriend you are.”


    I felt him stiffen, his eyes got darkened but he averted his eyes from mine and he loosened his tie


    before turning to face me.


    “I can be sweet and caring at the same time be so mad to even spank you for not eating your food on


    time.” Now it was my turn to shiver from his intense eyes.


    I turned and grabbed my te to have my food.


    “There’s an empty table there, lets sit there and give them their privacy.” I heard Martha whisper.


    “Why? You guys don’t have to move. You are Kat’s friends now. So unfortunately I got to be nice to


    you. You don’t have to move for our sake.” Ry said before I could say something. I couldn’t believe my


    ears. That was so sweet of him to do it for me. Though that is exactly what I felt.


    I have never been with someone other than Ryder for the past two days. I love to be with Ryder but


    sometimes we got to be with our friends to talk more freely but that doesn’t mean I am free in his


    presence it just that its different. With Ry it’s the constant want and need. Maybe it might be the


    missing from 3 years that makes my feelings for him grow. But it’s good to be with your friends and


    have fun with them. From outside it may seem same as I am same with both Ryder and my friends


    actually I am more open with Ryder than my friends. But emotional wise it bes different and I think


    I do need sometime with my friend.


    Speaking of being with friend, I haven’t heard from Mandy after I told her I am treating a sick Ryder. I


    think I should go to her today and have some girls time.


    “You okay?” He asked pulling me out my thoughts. I was so into my thoughts that I missed out on the


    conversation between Ryder and the others.


    “Yeah. I was just thinking of visiting Amanda after office.”


    “Okay I will drive you there.”


    “Sounds perfect.” I said smiling at him.


    “Oh now you are hanging with them Kat? I thought you were cooler than that.” I heard a very familiar


    voice behind Ryder. I looked up to see Alex looking at us with a disgust in his face. What is his


    problem?

    “What’s wrong with hanging around with anyone I like?” I asked getting annoyed with the way Alex


    talked of Martha, Jason and Raven.


    He sneered at us and soon turned pale when Ryder turned around to look at him. That made me smirk.


    “Any problem Evans?” He asked Alex coldly. I saw Alex flinched from the way he talked. How I wish I


    could see Ry’s face too. Too bad I am sitting behind him.


    “No sir.”


    “Then what are you waiting for? Get going.” Alex walked away from us more like ran away from us. On


    your face jerk. I happen to say jerk a lot now. I should start counting it.


    “Good choice with boys Martha.” Ry sneered at Martha.


    “What has this got to do with Martha?” I asked confused.


    “He is my ex. Dumped me to be a manwhore like Mr. Scott. No offense.” Martha shrugged.


    “None taken though I am little wounded hearing youpare him to me.” Ry said smiling.


    “Look at you having no shame of being called as a man-whore. As if it is some kind of an award.” I said


    pretending to be annoyed.


    “No hard feelings baby but it is kind of an award among men to be popr among women that they


    want you like piece of chocte.” He said smirking looking at Jason to prove his point.


    “True dat.” He said. Both the boys high-fiving to it.


    “Disgusting.” Us girls said in unison shaking our heads. We allughed and chatted during our lunch


    time to much of everyone’s surprise Ryder was part of it too.

    “Okay I will be down here waiting for you.” He said after Mark, his driver stopped in front of Mandy’s


    apartment, my old home.


    “Just go home we will take time. You know us girls.” I said looking at an exhausted Ryder.


    “Its no problem I am waiting for you no matter how long you take.” He said in a final tone. Cant argue


    with him when he is on that tone.


    “Fine do what you like.” I said to Ry and gave a peck on his lips and got off. Thanked Mark for opening


    my door and walked to the door of the lobby and opened it. I got in and walked straight to the elevator.


    *Mandy’s POV


    “Hi Dad. How are you.”


    “I am good dear. Listen we got to speed up the process of getting Damien’sptop.” Dad said with guilt


    tone.


    “Why Dad? Ryder and Kat just now got back together. Based on my knowledge on her for years I know


    that she wont ask him for help any time soon.”


    “I know sweetie but we got to speed it up or else we all will be in danger.”


    “Okay dad. What should I do?”


    “Make some lie and convince her to get thep with Ry’s help.”


    “What lie dad? I don’t wanna lie to her anymore. It hurts so much to lie to her face when she believes


    every single thing I tell her without asking me anything.”


    “It’s because she considers you as her sister sweetie. But you gotta lie to save us all.”


    “I understand. What should I tell her?”


    “Tell her that you got some call from the cops and that they are withdrawing the case.”


    “Withdrawing? Just after two week of filing the case? Would she believe it?”


    “Like you said sweetie that girl believes everything you say so yes she will believe that.”


    Ding Dong


    “Okay dad I will call youter someone is at the door.”


    “Okay sweetie but be careful don’t open unless you see who it is.”


    “I know dad. Don’t worry. Love you.”


    “Love you too cherrypie.”


    I chuckled at his nickname. It is a new one though. Each day it changes. I shook my head smiling.


    I looked through the peephole to see who it is. It is Kat. I inhaled deeply. Now is the time.


    I opened the door looking at her guiltily. I didn’t want to lie but I got no option. Mandy now is not the


    time for sentiments. Get on with your act.


    “What is it Mandy?” She asked pulling me down to the couch. She must have noticed my expression.


    God what am I doing? She being super sweet makes this all the more difficult.


    Okay here goes nothing.


    “I was about to call you. There’s some problem.” I asked with fake nervousness. Hopefully she wont


    catch it. Though she is really good at reading my expressions.


    “What is it Mandy?” She asked one more time asserting her question this time.


    “I got a call from the police station they said they are ending the investigation of your parent’s death.”


    “WHAT??” She asked shocked not believing what I said but I confirmed it with a nod. God I sure am


    going to hell for this.
