Chapter 3 Chitchat with my best friend

    Arike’s POV

“So please go ahead.” I said to send him off so I could work.

“What will you be doing?” He asked.

“Working…” I pointed out to myptop with shrug.

“You should rest too.” He adviced.

“No.. I am okay. I really need to finish up this case.” I answered him.

“Okay.” He walked off to the bedroom.

I got back to my work of finding evidences. Several minutes clicked by before Dayo came out again with a duvet in his hands.

“Do you need help?” He asked.

“No, I can manage.” I replied.

“Are you sure?” He settled on the couch.

I shook my head. “Aren’t you sleeping on the bed?”

“No, I want to watch you while you work?” He replied with a wicked grin.

I raised my eyebrow at him “What’s that?” I asked in a confused tone.

“Nothing… can’t I watch you?” He asked again.

“I don’t need a watchman. And please don’t fall off that couch because I don’t have any strength to carry you.”

“Oh! So you’re mocking me.” He gave me one of his cute puppy face.

“No, I’m just saying -” I replied spreading out my arms.

“My heart is brusied.” He pouted.

“Sorry.. about that Mejor Amigo.” I gave him a mock bow.

“You know.. I like it when you call me that.” He smiled.

    Mejor Amigo means Best friend.

“I am happy knowing that I am the only one you call Mejor Amigo.” He pped like child.

“So what are you feeling like?” I asked.

“On top of the world!” Weughed.

“Please… Dayo let me concerntrate.” I pleaded.

    “Okay.”

We bothsped into silence for some minutes only for him to speak up again.

    “Arike?” He called.

I rolled my eyes. “What is it again?”

    “How is Bamidele?” He asked.

    “I guess.. he’s good.” I responded.

    Silence.

“Is he your boyfriend now?” He blurted out.

“What?!” I gasped out in shock as our eyes met.

“Are you dating Bamidele?” He asked again.

“No! Bamidele is not my boyfriend!” I replied.

    “Thank God.” He mumbled.

“What do you mean by that?”

“Nothing.. but seriously that guy is a bastard.” He blurted out. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

“No fowl words boy.” I cautioned him.

“Sorry.. but I am not sorry for calling him a bastard.” He said.

“Don’t call him a bastard.” I cautioned him again.

“Oh so now you’re defending your boyfriend.” He teased.

    “He’s not my boyfriend.”

“See you should stay away from that guy.”

    “Why?”

“He’s not the type of guy you should date.”

“I don’t have any intention of dating him. But Bamidele is a nice guy.” I replied.

Dayo hissed. “Don’t be decieved, that guy means no good. He doesn’t deserve to be with someone like you.” He said in a harsh tone.

“What are you talking about about?” I asked, trying toprehend his words.

“Arike stop acting like you don’t know what am saying. That guy is -“. He stopped talking.

“That guy is what?” I asked him.

“Never mind, just don’t fall in love with him.” He threw the duvet over his face.

Bamidele was awyer who works in anotherw firm. We are both working on this case because he was thewyer hired to defend Chdinma’s bestfriend. He went to the same private university with Dayo but they aren’t good friends. Recently Bamidele asked me out but I had to turn him down for some reasons. We are cool as friends and he respects my decision to be just friends with him.  I know Adedayo doesn’t like him for some reason unknown to me and he always reminds me to never fall in love with Bamidele. Maybe there was something Dayo knows about Bamidele that I haven’t found out yet.

I got back to doing my work while Dayo tapped away on his phone for a while before I heard a mild snore. He was asleep.
