I''m too afraid to open my eyes. But I have to do something. I don''t care whether he hates me or not, I
can''t let him die.
I have tears in my eyes as I looked at the ident. I couldn''t dare to watch him. He lost more blood
and lying unconscious.
" Please, someone call 911," I yelled at the people who are watching withouting to help. I ran
towards him, to see whether he breaths or not.
" Oh, no, Xander," I cried as I couldn''t feel his breath. A girl near me took her phone and called 911
while all I can do is wait for the ambnce and hope they could save him. My hands didn''t stop
trembling. After I long time, I touched him but I didn''t want it to be like this. God, please, Save Xander. I
don''t care even if he belongs to Veronica. I won''t worry even if I never see him face-to-face again. I just
want him to be alive.
While I was crying, the car driver got out of the car. He looked drunk and kept his hands on his hair
looking shocked at what he has done.
" If you are drunk, why the hell do you drive? Go and fall off from a cliff." I shouted at him.
" I''m sorry. I didn''t...I...." He stammered. I shifted my gaze on Xander''s unconscious face.
After some minutes, the ambnce came, there''s no one there to help him. I''m the only one who can
take him to the hospital. I can inform his family once I admitted him to the hospital.
The car driver must be taken by the police. He''s going to deserve the worse for this. I would like to see
that once I know Xander''s alive.
I got into the ambnce after they took Xander inside. When they asked me, who am I to him, I
couldn''t open my open. What should I say? Someone he hates. Just a girl who studied with him.
I decided to lie. " Um...he''s..he''s my regr customer in the dinner I work," Is it believable? I hope it is.
After reaching the hospital, they took him to the ICU. I took my hand off his hand as they took him. His
unresponsive fingers slipped off mine in seconds. This must be thest touch no matter what happens.
But I want him to be alive. That''s enough for the rest of my life. I couldn''t bear losing him even when
he''s not mine.
I called Sofia seating in a chair " Sofia, I can''te home tonight. There''s been a situation." I started
trying not to cry again. Then I told her everything.
" I''m d you saved him, Maddie. We can''t leave anyone no matter who it is. But how are you going to
call his family and inform them? You don''t have their numbers." She remained me.
" Oh, yeah, then I guess I need to wait until he wakes up. Then, he would call them and I can leave."
" Madison, you can''t stay there all night for him,"
" I know, but I''m going to do that. It''s just one night. I''m not doing it for any gain. Once I came home
tomorrow, I will start trying to get any job."
" Okay, Maddie. Don''t stay awake all night. Take care. I will be in the hospital to take you home." She
told, not happy with my decision. I told bye and hung up.
Then I decided to call Henry. He''s close to Xander''s family. He''s not in town but I have to inform him.
I''m still in contact with him and talks once a month.
" Henry?" I hesitated as he attended the call.
" Madison, are you okay?" He said these words. He can sense that I''m crying from my tone.
" I...No, I''m not. Can you contact Xander''s parents and give a hospital address?"
" What? What are you talking about?"
" Xander had an ident today. I admitted him in a hospital. I need you to tell his parents."
" How...How is he now? But Madison, their parents are abroad for a business meeting. They won''t be
back for a month."
" What am I gonna do now? Even Veronica left the town right before Xander got hit by a car."
" Don''t worry, Madison. I will tell them to transfer money for his treatment. That''s enough for some days
until theye back. Update me about his health. I will be there in some days."
" Are youing here, Henry? You don''t need to do that. I mean...Xander''s important to you, but you
are busy with your job."
" This is more important than my job, Madison. I will inform his parents. Call me when he wakes up."
Henry said and hung up in a minute. Now, he will take care of the rest. Still, now, I''m feeling so anxious.
Everything will be alright. Everything will be alright once he woke up. His parents, Henry and Veronica
wille back for him. After he wakes up, I can go back to my normal life. This is how it supposed to

Time passes by, and all I did was nothing. Until the nurse stepped outside and approached me.
" How is he?" I asked as my heart beating faster.
" You bought him here at that right time. The patient lost more blood too but we can be able to save
him. Unfortunately, his right arm broken. He can''t be discharged for two weeks."
" Thank god, thank you so much," I said smiling and crying. Then I asked the nurse about the payment.
" It''s so good of you to save someone who''s your customer. I don''t know if someone cares so much for
a person who isn''t their family. If you wish to see him, you can go inside the room." the nurse informed
me. I can''t resist now. I have to go inside and give Xander some exnation and leave now.
" Okay, thank you."
" The patient looks way too confused. So, keep the conversation short." The nurse advised and left.
There''s only Xander and the doctor inside the room. He''s asking him something but he doesn''t even
open his mouth. Instead of sneaking in, I opened the door and went in.
He looked at me without any expression. His hair is messed up and he isn''t wearing his shirt. He has a
bandage on his arms. I hate to see him like this. He stared at me as I walked towards him. This is the
first time he ever looked at me without hatred. I really want to hug him, cry and say that I thought I
would lose him. But I can''t do that no matter how desperately want to.
" How are you, Xander? I''m sorry this happened to you. I have called Henry. He said he will inform your
parents and..." I hesitated to say Veronica and stopped. I expected him to say thank you and turn away
or anything but his response almost gave me a panic attack.
" I''m sorry. Who''s Henry?"
