Monday morning.. Meaning another week is almost gone and Hunter’s honeymoon-ing secretary is still living her best life.
Edward just took Louisa to school and I’m tidying up after her before heading out to work myself.
After I picked up one of Louie’s clothes from the floor, the ringing of my cellphone interrupted my activity.
I had a little thought in mind that heavens should let it be that Mr Brooks had changed his mind and is retracting me back to Bridgewaters.
I approached the phone on the nightstand and checked the caller.
After seeing who it was, I literally got angry at myself. Then I answered the call.
” Meredith I am so, so, so sorry I haven’t been keeping in touch. It’s just….. there are so many things happening right now and I don’t even know how to exin them to anyone ” Maybe she will buy my pleas. I’ve really been a terrible friend.
” Uhunn… I hear you. Keep ’eming ” I could feel her eye roll through the phone and it got meughing.
” How have you been?” I finally asked after myughter had died down.
” Well I’ve been alive, since you clearly didn’t want to check up on me. Sigh, sigh, more sighs” This girl never changes.
And that thought brings a smile on my face.
” I’ve been making promises to myself to contact you but like I said, there are so many things going on in my life right now ” I sighed and took a seat on my bed.
” Oh yeah, things like what?”
” You heard from Megan that I got transferred to work for another employee till his secretary returns?” This story is going to be longer if she hasn’t heard.
” Yeah I did”
” Well, the man I’m working for is Mr Brooks son”
” Still not seeing the problem. Is he harsh?”
” Meredith…. Mr Brooks son is Hunter”
There was a really strange silence on the phone and I thought there’s a connection failure somewhere.
” Hello?” I called into the phone.
” Is it just me, or did you say Mr Brooks son is Hunter?” Her voice bing more serious than the yful tone of earlier.
” I did”
” What the actual fuck!? Brooks is Mr Brooks name right? not his surname.” I was really d Louisa had gone to school so as not to hear all the swearing that will proceed from my lovely friend’s mouth.
” Yeah, it’s his name ”
” But Hunter’s surname is Brooks not something else”
” Hunter’s surname is McConnell, just like Mr Brooks but I don’t understand why he preferred the Brooks in school anyway ”

As odd as it may. That was true.
” Well, tada… He’s my boss”
” How in the world did we not see this? He’s not touching you anymore is he? Cause I swear to God if he is I’ll use my heels to squash his balls into a two dimensional shape ”
Trust Meredith to be the violent one.
” No, he isn’t. And I doubt he’d ever try that anytime ever ” I was sure about that. If not for anything but for the fact that I believe I can stand up for myself.
” Does he know?” Her voice goes down to a whisper, like she’s trying to hide in a closet.
” Know what?”
” You know, about Louisa ” Ohh… That know.
” Nah, he’s still pretty oblivious ”
She released a chuckle into the receiver and choked a little on her own air.
” I’ve always known that kid to be dumb”
Now two of us are literallyughing hard.
” So.. Where’s the princess staying in New York. And by princess I mean my Louisa, you’re a pauper ”
What the!? Meredith!!
She is really my dose for a happy morning.
” You’d never guess where ” Really.. I’d like to see her try.
” Hotel D’Angelo?” She had to start with the multimillion amodations that are impossible to get.
” You’re a spider” I honestly do not know what to say to her.
She bursts outughing and from her voice she’s clutching her stomach not to explode.
” Seriously? A spider? Is Louisa there or are you just trying to be nice?” Her throat sounds dry as she tried to speak between her chuckles.
” Ha ha… I’ll get back at you ”
” Yeah, I know. Now let me guess again. Errr….. Times Square?”
That’s it.
Remind me immediately after this call to order this girl a psychiatrist.
” That’s not even a housing area!”
” Well you said I should guess where you’re staying, you never stated it was a building so you could be living in a tent for all I know ”
Ahh!! Someone get me an insult meter.
” I live in a building you dumbo” I huffed into the phone.
” Well then I give up ”
” You only made two guesses ”
” Never call my efforts only!”
This girl would be the death of me.
” Fine I’ll tell you ” I started to pick on the fraying material of the bedspread.
” I thought you’ll never ask”
Did she- you know what.. never mind.
” I’m living with Hunter”
And Meredith being the queen of dramatic pauses, held a period again.
This time I know she’s on the line. Her breathing is too heavy to miss.
” Say that again ”
” You heard me”
” Hunter offered you a home? Someone’s changed”
” What!? No.. His dad told me to stay here because the house is big enough and truly it is. I hardly see him around here”
” Are you guys alone? Cause that’s dangerous ”
” No, we’re not. There are two guys and three otherdies ”
” Hunter’s doing men too? Ugh.. That pig!”
What is she- oh!!
Iughed into the phone at her corrupt mindset.
” Meredith you bitch, they’re his workers. His dad pays them. And they’re somewhat older ”
Well except for udette who eventually found herself in his sheets.
” Well that’s a relief ” She whistles.
” You’re a pig”
” And you Iris, you’re my sty”

” So, staying with Hunter and all. Any interesting events going on?”.
Events? Yeah.. The g.
” Sure, there is this G we attended two Saturdays ago”
” You guys went as dates?”
” Gross… No… I went as his secretary. He went for a business deal ”
” Okay, carry on ”
” The event was damn shy! I mean I saw more lights than I have ever seen since I was born. And don’t let me get started on the cakes, it-” Meredith cut me right when I was about to describe my sugary adventure.
” Wait! That sounds like a ton of money. Who hosted it? Let me know if I can find myself a rich bachelor ” I chuckled at her childishness.
Meredith the heart breaker.
” Like you’ll still date him after you find out he hates pandas”
” What! It was just one guy. And who the fuck hates pandas? He wasn’t worth it ” Her love for the fuzzy ck and white creatures was onto another level.
” Well too sad, the man is married ”
” Ouch.. That hurt”
” Yeah, keep the broken pieces of your heart in your desk drawer. It’s a Mr Reid, really tall, blonde haired and tanned skinned man and his wife is so beautiful, she’s a red hair just like you ” I was out of words to describe the couple.
” Uhm.. Did you say his name is Mr Reid?” Her voice lowered ago.
” Yeah, Mr Reid. I recall pretty well”
” Oh. Okay ” Now she sounds sad. Is it really the heartbreak thing?
” Meredith, I was joking about the broken hearts thing”
She released a weakugh that didn’tst for five seconds.
” I know. It’s just… I think the Mr Reid you just described is my father ”
Everything in my world just fell.
Her father? The one that abandoned her?
They’re this well to do and yet they don’t want their daughter back?
” Jesus, Meredith I’m so sorry. I didn’t know ”
” It’s okay, how are they doing by the way?” Her voice is sounding distant.
She’s about to cry.
” You mean you don’t talk to any of them at all?” That can’t possibly be true.
” I do talk to my brothers, Mason and Michael. But I’ve never heard from the rest”
Mason. Mason is Meredith’s brother.
But she said one of her brothers is confined to a wheelchair after the event of one night.
If Mason is fine then I think it’s the Michael.
Now herees the worst part.
Michelle is her sister.
This means Hunter knew.
That guy is a dog!
” Wow.. Meredith I’m so sorry. Look let’s talk about something else. Megan was telling me about some California dude you met?” I needed a diversion.
” Oh.. Yes! His name is Jackson. Gosh you need to see him, he’s like a walking sex god-”
And she went ahead gushing about Jackson.
I love this girl.
