Chapter 68: A Must Need Call

Chapter 68: A Must Need Call

    "What happened to her?"

Mother''s voice was filled with worry and fear.

"I am so worried, what happened to my daughter?" another concerned voice chimed in.

I slowly opened my eyes, my vision blurred, and the world seemed hazy. As the fog lifted, I realized

I was crying. I struggled toprehend my surroundings, unsure if I was still trapped in the dream

    that had felt so real.

"So, I was just sleeping? All were just dreams?!" I whispered, my voice trembling with confusion and

    relief.

"L-Lyka! Thank God you woke up!" Mother rushed to my side, embracing me tightly.

I found myself back in my room, Mother''s worried eyes peering into mine. "I thought I was going to

lose you, too. What happened to you?" she asked, her voice choked with emotion.

Lose me, too? The memories of the dream flooded back, and I realized with a sinking heart that it

    had all been real.

"W-where''s Father?" I inquired anxiously, my eyes scanning the room for any signs of him. Dodong

and Datdat''s tear-streaked faces confirmed the tragic truth.

And there was Kurt, just like in my dream, standing there, his presence bothforting and

    haunting.

"L-Lyka? He''s in the morgue now... He''s gone..." Mother''s words hit me like a tidal wave, and denial

    surged within me.

No. It couldn''t be true. It must have been just a dream.

"No! That was just a dream, Mom! I woke up, oh! So, it was all just a dream... or is this another

dream again? Then, wake me up!" I cried out, desperately wishing to escape the harsh reality.

I took a deep breath, trying to ground myself in the present. "Now, Mother... call Father, I have

something to tell him. He would be happy hearing these," I said, forcing a smile through the tears

    threatening to overflow.

Mother''s eyes closed briefly, her pain evident. When she opened them, I saw the hurt and sorrow

etched deeply within her gaze. This was no dream. My heart sank, epting the weight of realityThis belongs to N?velDrama.Org: ?.

    that I could not escape.

The room felt heavy with grief as we all grappled with the loss, but the love we shared for my Father

would carry us through this painful journey.

"Stop it, Lyka! He''s gone now! He''s gone! I thought you already epted that fact, but here you are

still wanting to talk with your father. He''s gone now! Gone!" Mother''s voice trembled with frustration,

trying to wake me from my denial.

"I know, Mother... I''m so sorry," I whispered, finallying to terms with the painful reality that my

    father was truly gone.

She sighed, visibly worried and upset.

She brought a bowl of soup, my favorite, hoping tofort me. But as she offered it to me, my

stomach churned, and I rushed to thefort room, feeling nauseous.

"Lyka! Lyka! What''s happening to you? It''s your favorite soup..." Mother''s concern was evident as

    she followed me.

I held back the truth about my pregnancy; it didn''t feel like the right time to share it. I hugged her

tightly, seeking sce in her presence, and mustered the courage to reveal the news.

"Mom, I am p-pregnant," I stammered, tears streaming down my cheeks.

"W-what?" She was taken aback by the revtion.

I nodded, confirming her suspicion, and continued to caress my stomach gently.

"Then, why are you here alone? Where is he? And why didn''t he apany you here? What

happened to both of you?" She bombarded me with questions.

I struggled to find the right words. "There''s no ''we'' now. I broke up with him," I confessed.

Her eyes widened in shock. "You broke up with him? Or is it him who broke up with you? What kind

of man is he? He doesn''t want the baby? How dare he—"

I interjected, "No, Mother. He doesn''t know about the baby. I resigned as a maid at their mansion... I

can''t answer all your questions right now. I just need some space to breathe, away from him."

She gripped my hand tightly, concern etched on her face. "But, you love him, right?" She asked,

    hoping for a different answer.

I smiled, knowing she deserved the truth. "Of course... But sometimes, love isn''t enough. Our

rtionship was toxic, and I needed to prioritize my well-being and the baby''s."

Her eyes softened with understanding, and she nodded. "You''re right, my dear. Your happiness and

    health are paramount."

I felt a wave of relief knowing that she supported my decision. This emotional journey was far from

over, but having my mother''s love and understanding made it a little easier to face the challenges

    ahead.

"If that''s what you think is right for you and your baby, then it''s all that matters," Mother''s

understanding response overwhelmed me with gratitude. I was relieved that she didn''tsh out at

    me for my decisions.

"Thank you, Mother," I said and hugged her tightly, feeling thefort of her embrace.

She insisted that I rest and not move to ensure the baby''s safety while they cleaned the house. Kurt

was helping them, which felt extremely embarrassing for me.

I couldn''t believe my father was gone, and soon he would be home in the form of ashes. The

thought weighed heavily on my heart. Meanwhile, I had no news about Kiro. Was he willingly

staying in prison? I wondered what had be of him.

Miss Linda and Joday were also on my mind. I knew they must be disappointed and angry at my

    sudden departure without proper exnations.

As I sat by the window in the dimly lit room, lost in my thoughts, my phone suddenly buzzed on the

table. I picked it up and saw Miss Linda''s name shing on the screen. Her call was unexpected,

and I hesitated for a moment before answering.

"Hello?" I said softly, uncertainty coloring my voice.

"Lyka," her voice carried a mix of anxiety and regret, "I hope you''re okay."

I felt a pang of surprise at her concern. After all that had happened, I wasn''t sure what to expect

from her. "I''m managing," I replied, keeping my response neutral.

There was a brief pause before she continued, her words carrying an unspoken weight. "Lyka, I

need to say something... something I should have said long ago."

    I listened.

"I want to apologize, Lyka," her voice wavered, "I''m sorry for not telling you the truth from the

beginning. I knew about Kiro''s past, about Lily, but I didn''t think it woulde back to hurt you like

    this."

She admitted, her voice heavy with regret, "I didn''t inform you because I thought things had

changed, that Kiro had moved on from that part of his life. I wanted to protect both of you, but I see

now that my silence only caused more pain."

Tears welled in my eyes, a mixture of anger and hurt. Her admission only highlighted the betrayal I

had felt, the web of secrets that had entangled us all.

"I understand if you can''t forgive me, Lyka," she continued, her voice wavering, "But I needed to tell

you the truth. I should have been honest from the start, and I''m deeply sorry for everything."

Her apology hung in the air, heavy with the weight of past mistakes. A part of me wanted to hold

onto my anger, to remain distant, but another part longed for closure and the possibility of

    forgiveness.

Taking a deep breath, I finally spoke, my voiceced with a mix of pain and eptance. "Thank you

for telling me, Miss Linda. It means a lot to hear your honesty now, even though it''s toote to

    change what''s happened."

"I understand," she replied softly, "I just hope that someday, you can find it in your heart to forgive

    me."

Silence enveloped both our lines. I decided to break it by asking for forgiveness, too. Issues

between us won’t be resolved if no one would forgive each other.

"Miss Linda... I am so sorry," I whispered, my voice filled with sincerity. "I couldn''t find the right

words to bid goodbye properly. My mind was just too clouded earlier."

“You do not have to mention that, Lyka. I know you’ve been really hurt.”

"What happened when you and Kiro were in his roomter that morning?" she inquired. I hesitated,

    unable to reveal the truth.

"N-nothing... I couldn''t say it, Miss Linda. Please understand me," I pleaded.

"Okay, I will not ask questions rted to Kiro but about you. Are you okay now? Where are you?

Are you okay? Is your baby okay?'''' she asked, showing her caring nature.

"I''m home... but I am not fine. My father just d-died," I shared with a heavy heart, closing my eyes

    as I spoke.

"What?! Are you okay? Don''t stress yourself, Lyka, ah!" she reminded me, showing genuine

    concern.

"Yes... Miss Linda, can I ask a question? It''s about Kiro... H-how is he? Is he in jail? What happened

    to him?" I nervously inquired.

There was a long pause on the other end of the line, and my anxiety grew as I waited for her

    response.

"Yes, he''s in jail now. His mother presented all the medical records, but Kiro insisted on being there,

and his mother couldn''t do anything against her son," Miaa Linda exined over the phone.

When she asked if she should tell Kiro about my pregnancy, I quickly responded, "No, no, Miss

    Linda."

I exined my decision to focus on fixing ourselves before considering a rtionship. Miss Linda

expressed her pride in me, which made me smile despite the somber circumstances.

However, my thoughts soon turned to Joday. I asked Miss Linda where she was and if she was mad

at me for leaving without answering her questions.

"Oh, Joday? No, she''s not mad at you, and she''s not here," Miss Linda replied.

I was taken aback. Joday had left the mansion? I wondered where she could be. Miss Linda

assured me not to worry, describing Joday as a confident and self-assured individual.

It saddened me to think that only Miss Linda remained at the mansion with Madam. I couldn''t help

    but feel sorry for her.

I sighed, hoping that tomorrow would bring a better day. I longed to cross paths with Kiro again and

resolve our feelings and issues together. My heart yearned for a resolution, for healing, but I guess,

it will all be impossible now.
