Chapter 53 - The Un-fortune Cookie


    Just for a few hours, I had to hold it together. My n was simple really. Fake it till you make it!

    Get out of sight from Aurora as much as I could.

    Get ready for the concert.


    Step three


    Perform.


    Step four


    Meet Alice.


    Step five


    Get to bed.


    Easier said than done. Apparently, Aurora was furious I travelled without telling her and switched off my


    phone. But really, who would me me?!


    So after hearing my fair share of instructions and not trying to argue like normal, she was finally content


    and went on her merry way. Fucking finally!


    After that it was easy to lose myself in the n. I mean singing was what made me finally feel


    something real that wasn''t pain. I loved every moment of it but unfortunately it had toe to an end.


    And guess who was still missing.

    Everything was going normally and ording to n. On my way to changing, I saw Aurora talking to


    Desmond in a heated conversation.


    However, my tiredness was more prominent than curiosity. I''d just askter anyway. I made a mental


    note to ask how they even knew each other. Maybe he was the bodyguard of someone from the


    agency. It wasn''t like there was some big secret, I mentally shrugged and went on my way.


    Alice sent me a text three days ago with a location where we would meet. She wasn''t my favourite


    person in the world but if she said my life was in danger then I was meeting her no matter what.


    Of course, I didn''t tell anyone but Desmond. Anyone else would just want to interfere and practically


    Desmond was supposed to drive me back in addition to being my bodyguard. So it wouldn''t matter that


    we made a small detour.


    He agreed to drive me wherever I wanted and respected my choice of not tell anyone about it until I


    knew what was happening. I really appreciated that!


    I met him two blocks away from the concert building since he wasn''t supposed to know I''m Cinnamon.


    There was a donut shop and I just had to have some to be able to survive for the rest of the night. I


    also got a fortune cookie forter.


    I offered him one and he took it thanking me. It was then kind of a quiet drive with the asional


    buzzing sound of the radio.


    I put my hand out of the window feeling the cool air along my fingers. I felt so nice but soon my fingers


    were freezing I had to retract them back.


    I felt the care to a stop, we were near a public garden but since it was sote, there were


    absolutely no people. "Can you please wait for me here a few minutes?" I asked Desmond. I frankly


    didn''t want him causing unnecessary drama.


    I strolled along the garden looking around for Alice. While searching I remembered my fortune cookie


    and decided to open it. What was written inside gave me the chills.


    ''Sooner orter, you will be found''


    It wasn''t supposed to be rming but my heart raced. Maybe I was too tired. I continued walking


    carefully until I spotted a blond head on one of the benches. I inched closer until I was sure it was her.


    "Alice!" I said making her attention on me. Her nose was red of the cold, she looked almost cute.


    Keyword: almost.


    "Elena." She said back seeming quite nervous. It was silent for a few moments until I had had enough


    of the silence.


    "So, you wanted to talk?" She nodded at my question leading against the tree beside her. "Then talk," I


    said in a pissed off tone. I didn''t want to sound bitchy but my patience was running thin now.

    silent.


    Then she looked up her brows furrowed. "Like I told you," She paused shoving her hands onto her


    pockets. "You''re in danger."


    I was about to ask what she meant by that but I felt a blow to my head from behind. It was wo strong I


    almost instantly fainted.


    I was drifting away I could feel it. But then I felt Alice fall to the ground and gunshots were heard, I was


    drifting in and out of consciousness.


    I saw red fill the ground.


    Was this my blood or someone else''s?


    Was Alice dead?


    Was I dying?!
