Chapter 28 The Bitter Emotions Hidden Inside


    The manager was arranging for Amber to be seated beside Liam when one of the more superior


    directors from the subsidiarypany brought an alluring young woman over.


    "Mr. Croft, let me introduce you to Susan. I bumped into her earlier today." The director cast a


    suggestive nce towards Susan while introducing her to Liam.


    Amber was at loss for words when she saw the woman. Wasn’t she the actress who had just made it


    big recently? She looked incredibly stunning and gorgeous, especially with her seductive body shape

    Even though Amber spent most of her time on campus, she immediately understood the situation when

    “Whatever, I’ll just treat this as an unexpected scrumptious meal.” As she convinced herself to think of it

    “Mr. Croft, you must take this drink, or else I’ll be really mad!” With a flirtatious tone, Susan raised a


    ss of wine in honor of Liam. By that time, her whole body was practically flung on Liam.


    The crowd started to cheer while the director, with his flushed chubby cheeks, chimed in to further


    elevate the mood and said, “How could you just shove Mr. Croft the drink like this, Susan? At least let


    him savor the wine through your mouth!”


    Cheers sounded all around as everyone started to chant, “Do it! Do it!”


    A ruckus was raised in the hall by the enthusiastic crowd.


    Amber was starting to get a headache from all themotion. She stole a quick nce at Liam and


    saw Susan clinging onto his shoulder as she tilted her head, gazing at Liam with the brightest smile on


    her face.


    As if sensing her gaze, Liam turned and locked eyes with her. He looked slightly tipsy, but his eyes


    were as clear as ever.


    She felt her heart skip a beat and hurriedly lowered her head to avoid his gaze. Noise from the crowd’s


    cheering and Susan’s amorous talk flooded her ears.


    She suddenly realized how ridiculous this was. What was she doing here? Why was she obligated to


    be seated here and witness these detestable acts just because of Liam’s single word?


    While the crowd was still cheering, she hurriedly stood up and made her way away from the scene.


    She did not belong here, she had nothing to do with all thisvishness!


    She recalled that her belongings were kept by the waiters, but when she asked to retrieve them, the


    waiter responded politely and said, ‘Mr. Croft has directed us to only let you leave the hall after the


    banquet is over.”

    guessed that she would want to leave the hall in the middle of the banquet! “Damn this cunning old

    So now, she couldn’t leave—but she didn’t want to return to the chaotic scene either. Frustrated, she


    stomped her way to the washroom. She nned to return after the crowd was done with whatever they


    were onto. What was that lunatic thinking—forcing her to stay!


    He must have only wanted to make her feel ridiculed and awful!


    Amber stared into the mirror in the washroom and observed her appearance. Her hair was neat and


    tidy, her skin as fair as ever, her eyes bright ck, and her lips, a supple pink. No matter how one


    looked at her, she had the refreshing looks of a proper youngdy! How did she stoop so low as to


    enter a bikini fashion show, apany big shots in a banquet and witness a trade of sexual bribery!


    Feelings of unjustness crept in as the bitter emotions slowly emanated from within her.


    She stayed in the washroom for a while to calm herself down before heading back to the dining hall


    reluctantly once more.
