Chapter 6: I Want to Take Him Down


    The man in front of her stared at her arm and frowned. He spoke with his voice lowered, “Miss Miller,


    actually, you don’t have to do that. Although Mr. Harris can’t see these empty needle holes, he always


    thought you’re the one that gives him blood.”


    Allison smiled gently and threw the used needle into the dustbin. She still looked gentle and kind, but


    there was a cold look on her face. “If I don’t do this, how would Lawrence see this at anytime and


    anywhere, and forever remember my kindness?”


    Five years ago, Lawrence who had used to stay outside suddenly returned to the Harris family. Under


    the help of Scarlett Harris, the olddy of the Harris’s, she sessfully became the “person who gave


    blood” to Lawrence. Every month, the real blood provider would take and send the blood to her, and


    she would prick her arm before giving the blood to Lawrence.


    Maybe it was because she had an innocent look, and she knew when to stop. What Lawrence knew all


    these years was he had used a woman’s virgin blood when he left City B and the blood was all


    contributed by Allison afterwards.


    Noticing it was about time, Allison nced at the top of the financial tower and glimpsed at the man


    beside her. She ordered softly, “Keep the blood first.”


    “Tonight, I want to take him down before giving him the blood.”

    Charlotte had sat outside the financial tower for a very long time. She still did not have the courage to


    stand up and walk into the tower behind her when the sunlight gradually faded away and her limbs


    turned numb, until Evelyn phoned her and yelled at her with apprehension in the phone. “You little


    bitch! Don’t you y tricks with me, I’ve seen you from TV! If I still don’t hear anything from you one


    hourter, you know what will happen.”


    After hanging up the call, Charlotte’s face turned pale and she staggered while standing to her feet. As


    she just gritted her teeth and turned, she suddenly heard a child crying nearby. “Daddy, daddy where


    are you? Emma’s scared, Emma wants to go home…”


    “I want daddy…”


    Charlotte saw a white little figure wiping tears while lingering at the financial tower’s square from a


    distance. It was obvious she had gotten separated with her family. Charlotte stood at the spot and


    hesitated. As she was about to approach the little girl, several men who were wearing caps and their


    face could not be clearly seen straight away stopped in front of the little girl ahead of her.


    “Little girl, you can’t find your daddy and mommy? Come with us, we’ll help you search for them.”


    “I’ll give you lollipop, and there’s princess dress from Frozen in the car too.”


    Charlotte stood far away and she could vaguely hear the little girl’s voice. “No! Daddy’s said strangers


    who offer lollipop and want to take Emma away are all bad guys!” The men stopped breathing for a


    moment and then said with a hateful tone, “You’re smart, but you can’t escape when you meet us.”


    They’re human traffickers! Charlotte’s chest tightened and she rushed there while staggering all the


    way. She yelled at the men. “Put that kid down now!” The men froze and turned around at the same


    time. “Who are you? Go away!”


    The little girl had already passed out and was hanging on one of the men’s arm weakly. She was

    clearly Lawrence’s daughter from the familiar looks and dress! Charlotte clenched her fists and could


    not help but shiver.


    “Her name’s Emma, and I’m her mother! Put her down, and I can pretend nothing happened, or else…”


    As she spoke, she suddenly looked around and yelled. “Somebody help! Someone wants to take my


    kid away! Help…”


    A security guard who was just patrolling nearby heard her and came. The men’s expression changed


    and having remembered the little girl calling herself “Emma” before, they gritted their teeth and shot


    Charlotte a re, tossing the kid down and ran away. “You better watch out, bitch!”


    Charlotte did not see thating. Watching the kid being thrown towards her, she pounded and caught


    her, falling straight onto the ground. Charlotte instinctively protected the girl’s head and held her tightly


    in her arms. They rolled on the ground and stopped. Maybe it was because of the huge movement, the


    girl in her arms frowned and she slowly opened her eyes.


    Charlotte was delighted. “Are you alright, little sweetheart? Don’t worry, the bad guys already…” Seeing


    the strange face up close, the little girl instantly burst into tears. Charlotte froze in panic. “Don’t, don’t


    cry, I’m not a bad guy, I was only…”


    “Emma!” A man’s strict and horrifying voice was heard from behind. Charlotte froze and did not let out a


    voice at once. Theer strode towards her and sped her shoulder. “Take your hands off her!” But


    Lawrence’s movement stopped halfway. He lowered his head and met a pair of eyes that would make


    his heart leapt.
