Chapter 49 Re-examination

    Chapter 49 Re-examination

"Ms. Alexia, what did Mr. Lancaster say to you?" Aunt Song asked, noticing Alexia''s downfallen

    expression and worrying at once.

Alexia sighed in aggravation. "He told me not to bully Evelyn."

"You bullying Evelyn?" Aunt Song looked bewildered. "Ms. Alexia, have you ever bullied her?"

"Of course not! Why would I bully her? I had no reason to either! She''s obviously the one bullying me!"

"Then why did Mr. Lancaster say that?"

"It''s all because of Evelyn! She called Chaim and said she had the nursee over to thank me and

told Chaim I scolded the nurse for being ungrateful. So Chaim was just warning me to not bully her."

Alexia threw her phone to the edge of the bed, her heart sinking.

Aunt Song froze for a second before angrily pping the table. "How could that woman be so

shameless? When did that nurse ever say he was here to thank you on behalf of Evelyn?"

"It doesn''t matter." Alexia wiped her face. "What matters is that she deliberately lied and Chaim still

believed her. He didn’t even give me a chance to exin."

"I can’t believe Mr. Lancaster would ever do something like that! How could he believe that woman?"

    Aunt Song sighed in dissatisfaction.

"Forget it. I understand that Evelyn still carries a lot of weight in his heart. They also had that kind of

rtionship once. It’s normal for him to trust her." Alexia sighed bitterly. "Aunt Song, can you help me

    prepare a wheelchair?"

"What do you want, Ms. Evelyn? Please, let me get it for you."

    "I’m going to see Evelyn!"

"No!" Aunt Song snapped disapprovingly, putting her hand on Alexia’s shoulder to prevent her from

getting up. "You can’t get up in this state, Madam."

"But Evelyn did that because she wanted me to see her. Plus, I want to know what she''s up to!" Alexia

    shouted insistently.

Aunt Song said nothing and just stared at Alexia.

    Alexia didn’t budge, either.

The two women were at a standstill.

"What are you doing?" Nathaniel''s voice, full of disbelief, suddenly rang out from the doorway.

Aunt Song looked at him like he was her savior and hastily pulled him over. "Doctor Hardy, Ms. Alexia

said she wanted to go out in a wheelchair. Please talk to her." Aunt Song gave Nathaniel a curt nod

before leaving the room to give the two of them some privacy.

"Go out?" Nathaniel frowned and looked at Alexiaying in the hospital bed. "Sister, where are you

    going?"

"To see Evelyn," Alexia said, telling the truth.

"What''s the point of seeing her?" Nathaniel asked, walking over to the bed to check the progress of the

IV. “Don''t go see her before your IV finishes."

"She''s the one who wants to see me." Alexia rubbed her temples.

Nathaniel suddenly stopped flicking the IV bag. "What''s going on?"

"I don''t know. She said she had something to talk to me about." Alexia shook her head gently.

"Then I advise you not to go." Nathaniel said, turning away from the IV and cing both hands on

Alexia’s shoulders "That woman is no in Jane. She may have said she had something to talk about,

but she’s most likely preparing to screw you over."

Alexia looked at him incredulously. "You..."

"What''s wrong?" Nathaniel asked, raising an eyebrow in interest.

Alexia scratched her head. "It''s nothing. I just can''t believe you would actually say that about Evelyn.

    Aren''t you guys friends?"

Chaim and Nathaniel were close friends. And Evelyn was Chaim''s ex-girlfriend. So, it was reasonable

to say that the three of them should be on good terms, but the tone of his voice when he mentioned

Evelyn was not only unfriendly but also tinged with a hint of dislike.

"Is anyone friends with her? I''m just taking care of her for Chaim’s sake. She doesn''t leave as many

sensations in my heart as you do, sister." Nathaniel tapped his fingers on his arm, letting his words

    hang in the air.

The corners of Alexia''s mouth twitched. "Well... thank you for your approval."

"Well said, well said." Nathaniel waved his hand andughed lightly. "Sister, do you know why I don''t

    like Evelyn?"

    Alexia shook her head. "Why?"

    "Oh, I won''t tell you!"

Alexia looked at him with an expressionless face. She knew he was ying with her!

"Alright, alright, no more teasing you sister." Nathaniel pushed his sses up the bridge of his nose

and his expression became slightly more serious. "Listen to me, don''t go see her, when she says she

has something to discuss, she’s is often scheming about something. You didn’t know her before, what

could you talk about? The only thing you can talk about is Chaim."

    "You know her that well?"

Nathaniel''s eyes turned cold. "Of course I understand her after being in a simr situation. If I''m right,

she probably wants to talk to you about how you should be taking the initiative to divorce Chaim or

    something like that."

That woman was possessive to the point of perversion. When Evelyn was dating Chaim, she

suggested that Chaim keep his friends away so he wouldn’t be as distracted.

"She knows about my rtionship with Chaim?" Alexia asked in surprise.

"She''s been threatened by you since you met before the surgery, you don’t think she won''t ask for a

rification?" Nathaniel asked, looking at her with a wry smile.

Alexia was silent for a few seconds before she asked with some confusion. "Since you know what kind

of person Evelyn is, then why don''t you tell Chaim how she really is?"

"Who says I haven’t? That would require him to believe me. Chaim’s head is quite thick regarding

    Evelyn." Nathanielughed dryly.

Alexia nodded, knowing how Chaim thought about Evelyne all too well and she couldn''t help but be

amused by Nathaniel’sment. However, afterughing, there was a sourness in Alexia’s heart. If

Chaim was too bullheaded to listen to his friend, then that must mean he cared greatly for Evelyn still. If

that weren’t the case, it would be impossible for him not to see what kind of person Evelyn is. It’s often

said that the ones you love the most are often the ones whose ws you most often ignore.

"Alright, enough about that. I came over to inform you that there will a post-operative re-examination

later so you can get ready," Nathaniel said, getting down to business.

Alexia collected her emotions and answered. "Oh, okay."

After Nathaniel left, Aunt Song returned and took her seat in a chair by Alexia’s bed. "Ms. Alexia, do

you still want to go to Evelyn''s now?"

"No." Alexia waved her hand feebly.

    From N?velDrama.Org.

Nathaniel said that Evelyn likely wanted to talk about was trying to get Alexia to divorce Chaim. If that

were the case, why would she go and make a fool of herself?

"It''s the correct choice not to go." Aunt Song smiled gratefully. "Ms. Alexia, let me help you change you

into the clothes you''ll be wearing for the re-examinationter."

"Thank you for your help, Aunt Song." Alexia lifted the quilt with one hand.

Once she was changed, Alexia was carried to a wheelchair by two nurses and sent to various

    departments for a full-body exam.

By the time it was over, three hours passed and Alexia nearly passed out from exhaustion. But when

she returned to the ward and saw the figure standing in front of the window, all her sleepiness

    dissipated in a moment.

"Chaim?" Alexia called out softly to the figure.

Chaim turned around. "Where did you go?"

"My post-op exam." Alexia gestured to the wheelchair she was sitting in.

After the exam, Nathaniel told her that she was recovering well and that she could sit up instead of

    lying down all the time.

So Aunt Song went ahead and applied for a wheelchair for her.

"What are the results of the tests?" Chaim inquired as he nced at Alexia''s wheelchair.

Alexia smile subtly. "Nothing bad. I''ll be discharged in a few days."

Chaim gave a nod. "That''s good."

He was relieved that she was okay. Although he didn''t love her, he didn''t want her to be left with any

    diseases for this.

"By the way Mr. Lancaster, when did youe over?" Aunt Song, who was standing behind Alexia,

    suddenly spoke up and asked.

"I’ve been here for a while," Chaim responded in a t voice, his lips forming a thin line.

Alexia was more than slightly surprised. “So you''ve been waiting here?"

"No," Chaim lowered his eyes. “I just came from Eve''s room."

The expression on Alexia''s face stiffened and her gaze sank dully. “Oh..."

It was true that the primary purpose of his visit to the hospital was for Evelyn. How could Alexia be

happy about seeing Chaim when he only visited her in passing?

"Mr. Lancaster!" Aunt Song walked out from behind Alexia with a stern face. Her tone was very harsh,

and she was angry by the sound of it.

"Aunt Song?" Alexia looked at her in dismay.
