Chapter 18 The Welcome Party

    Chapter 18 The Wee Party

Chaim was silent for quite a while before finally responding. “If that’s what you want. Yes.”

Alexia was pleasantly surprised when hearing his answer. She couldn’t believe he agreed! However,

sadness quickly followed. While Chaim had agreed, he sounded really reluctant. It was almost as if his

    heart was resisting.

With all those thoughts floating in her head, Alexia forced back her tears. “Okay. I’ll think about

    everything…”

She took a breath before turning toward the door.

“Wait.” Chaim walked toward her. “Take this.”

Alexia nkly looked at the bank card in Chaim’s hand, not taking it. “Why are you giving this to me?”

Chaim grabbed Alexia’s wrist and dropped the card into her palm. “This is my secondary card. You can

use it to buy whatever you want. I will also tell my ountants to transfer the living expenses to Aunt

Song’s ount every month. You won’t have to pay her anymore.”

“I’ll ept the living expenses, but I don’t need this.” Alexia handed Chaim his card back.

“Don’t you want it?” Chaim asked coldly.

He couldn’t believe Alexia refused his money again.

“I already owe you five million. I don’t even know when I’ll pay it off.”

“So you’ll take some of my money but not all of it?” Chaim snorted coldly with a hint of sulkiness that he

    didn’t even notice.

One moment she requested that they act like a real couple, and then she was unwilling to ept his

kind offer the next. What was she thinking?

Alexia picked at the skin around her nails, “I’m epting the living expenses but not the card because I

don’t want others to think I married you for your money.”

“If it’s not for money, what exactly do you want?” Chaim said, examining her slim face with a puzzled

    look on his face.

Alexia wanted to speak, but kept silent. She was tempted to say that she wanted him. But would he

    even believe her?

Alexiaughed to herself and decided against sharing her truest thoughts. “Never mind. I haven’t

figured out how to say it yet. I want to rest.”

With that, she walked past him out of the room.

Chaim didn’t get an answer. He stared at Alexia’s back as she left with an indescribable irritation raging

    within him.

Alexia headed for the kitchen to get some things to help her clean up the mess, hoping Aunt Song

would be able to remove the coffee stain. Then, she went back to her room and promptly felt asleep.

The next day, Lynn was surprised by Alexia’s huge dark circles, “Holy shit, did you steal a cowst

    night?”

“Don’t sit there, or we’ll get in trouble,” Alexia said, pushing Lynn off the desk, “And what about stealing

cows? I just had a nightmarest night.”

    “One night?”

“Yeah, it was a really bad one.” Alexia yawned with listless, bloodshot eyes.

As soon as she closed her eyes, she couldn’t help but dream about Chaim forcibly taking her bone

    marrow against her will.

The dream was so real she even wondered if he would really do it if she didn’t agree.

“What kind of nightmare?” Lynn asked, concerned. She wasn’t used to seeing Alexia like that.

Alexia lowered her eyes. “I don’t want to talk about it. It’s so early, why did youe to see me?”

Lynn raised an eyebrow, “Have you forgot? The wee party!”

“I haven’t forgotten, but it’s not until this evening. What are you telling me now for?” Alexia asked in

disinterest as she sorted out some more documents. There were always more documents.

“I’m asking if you have prepared your dress of course.”

“Dress?” Alexia stopped sorting and looked up at Lynn suspiciously.

Lynn winked, a wry smile ying on her lips. “Surely not, right?”

“Do I really have to wear a dress for the wee party?” Alexia asked, looking at with a bewildered

    expression.

The smile on Lynn’s face fell and her expression became serious, “Don’t you know? The whole

company was emailed about the dress code yesterday. It was your secretary team who sent it out.”

    Yesterday…

Alexia bit her lower lip to suppress her emotions.

Seeing Alexia’s reaction, Lynn immediately knew what happened. “They deliberately didn’t notify you?”

    “I guess so.” Alexia nodded.

The other secretaries already hated her. It wasn’t too surprising.

“They went too far; I’ll get even with them! What gives them the right to bully you like this?” Lynn

clenched her fist and gritted her teeth as she stood to leave.

Alexia hurriedly grabbed Lynn’s arm, “Lynn, wait! I’m okay. You’ll just get into trouble if you make a

    scene. It’s not worth it.”

“So you want me to just let it go?” Lynn red reluctantly.

Alexia handed Lynn a cup of water. “I have no experience in this position, that’s why they bully me so

tantly. But I’m certain that once I be morepetent in my position, they’ll leave me alone.”

“You’re too soft. You can’t always expect the best from everyone,” Lynn said, flicking Alexia on the

    forehead.

Alexiaughed uneasily and nced at the time onputer. “You’d better head back or your manager

    will catch you.”

“Oh yeah, I almost forgot. How about we go pick out a dress together after work?”

Alexia’s expression stiffened as she thought about her empty wallet, “Okay…”

    “It’s a deal then. Bye!”

With Lynn gone, Alexia slumped into her chair and looked at the less than two-digit amount in her bank

ount, feeling a headache starting, “What kind of dress can I buy?”

“Dress?” A calm masculine voice asked from the doorway.
