Chapter 11 Signing her first deal


    Today is the day she has been waiting for. She was both excited but nervous, enthusiastic but


    worried at the same time. The future of thepany depended on this deal she was going to pitch


    today. Araceli has been working on the deal for over 6months with a whole research base and backup


    file, she knows that the contract wasn''t only important to thepany but to Araceli too, this was most


    of her life''s work, hence why she couldn''t afford to mess it up.


    She got up an hour before her rm due to her restlessness, so she decided to take a run to clear


    her mind, A run and a good coffee will keep her straight,so she left the house at 6 27 am jogging up to


    her estate.


    The sun had partially risen and the air was cool again her face but she could feel the slight chill of


    winter,she remembered how she would dread the winter,how she would cuddle up with Talon and just


    never want it to end. She shook her headically trying to shake away the thoughts of her bastard


    ex. If she was going to win this thing, she needed to stay focused on her goal.


    Time being its usual self flew by and by the time she alighted at the house it was already half-past


    seven, she got to her room and discarded her sweaty clothes as she headed for the shower. Not


    wasting any time, she opted for a red zer and a ck slim fitted jumpsuit with an oval opening on


    the front, putting on some ck heels and light make-up, she left her room satisfied archiving the


    power look she was aiming for. She headed down the stairs towards the kitchen where Mrs Garcia was


    already having coffee and toast.


    "Hey Darling, good morning," Mrs. Garcia said warming


    "Morning mom," Rachel replied with a kiss on her head.


    "The maids told me you went out early in the morning, where did you go"? Selena asked as she


    looked up at her daughter who had been so different since the ident that almost took her life.


    "For a run," Rachel replied simply while making herself a toast.


    "A run?” Mrs. Garcia asked shocked, “since when did you start going for runs'' '' she added,


    skeptical and a bit worried. She has known her daughter all her life and all of a sudden she starts going


    for a run and suddenly has a weird thing for strawberries, it made her worried, maybe the bash to the


    head dealt a little more damage than the doctor thought.


    "I just needed to clear my head mom,you know I am pitching Ar...my idea today and i need to


    make it good, thepany needs this deal for the next level marketing trend,”.Rachel exined.She


    really needed to get her shit together, it was starting to get obvious that she was a different person,she


    wish she could talk with Araceli again, I mean it happened before,it could happen again...right??,God


    who was she kidding,she was alone in this, which meant she needed to be stronger for both of them


    now, that''s the only choice she had.


    When Rachel saw Mrs. Garcia nodded her head, she quickly went to her and give a kiss on her


    cheeks. This was the newly found affection that Araceli’s mum loves. So she was able to evade any


    other question and immediately went downstairs in search of Jeffery.


    On reaching the front gate, jeffrey was already waiting for her, she got into the car and checked


    her phone for text or anything at all, slightly disappointed that she didn''t receive any text from a certain


    someone. she was a bit restless now and she knows what that means, A morning with double coffee,


    she knows she sure as hell needed it.


    "Uhm jeffrey, can we make a stop at starbucks so Ican get some coffee, ” Rachel asked taking a


    break from the file she was ready.


    "Yes of course," he replied.


    “Thank you, ” Rachel added and continued to read the file.


    In a few minutes, they made a stop at starbuck and she ordered coffee with cream and little sugar.


    A good caffeine will keep her focused for the presentation.


    She reached the office half past eight and went through her private elevator to her office straight


    away, Her secretary had already arranged the necessary files she needed for the presentation,the


    presentation wasn''t holding till 11am so she had time to do other work, and she also promise Ace that if


    she got the deal she would take him for a movie night at the cinema to watch the movie he has been so


    excited about the new Lego movie.


    There were alot of reasons she needed the deal,she has been so busy with work that she hardly


    had time to spend with Ace and that really made her feel bad. She distracted herself with things to do


    till it was 20minutes to 11 am, it was almost showtime.


    On cue, her secretary also entered her office to remind her and wish her well, which she replied


    with a warm smile as she went ahead to help her carry the files to the ss-tainted conference room.


    On entering,the cold st of the Air condition hit her,making her shiver a little from the drop in


    temperature. She took herptop and connected it to the projector and set up everything else she


    needed. It felt like her project defense all over again from college. Before her secretary left she said


    something that took her aback.


    "Hey, I know you have been working hard for this presentation,and i can''t help but feel you became


    a bit more confident than you were before,more outspoken, that is exactly what you need to make


    these men know,they need to know you are in control because if they sense any sign of weakness,they


    will cut off the deal and give it to a man,don''t let them sniff weakness" Her secretary rushed in one


    breathe.


    "Uhm thanks Sidney, I will definitely keep that in mind,” Rachel replied.


    "Did she just call me Sidney?."


    The secretary thought, shaking her head. Araceli must be really stressed about the meeting


    because the Araceli she knows never forgets a name.


    The board leaders started entering the conference room one after the other. Rachel thought the

    "Alright, Good day Gentlemen, let''s get this over with," Rachel said with newly found confidence as


    she saw a look of slight shock on their faces.


    "I guess she was right,talking with confidence and not letting them sense weakness and


    intimidation gave me the upper hand"

    "Ourpany is at the peak in market right now,ourpetitors are far behind us which doesn''t


    mean we should rx, but right now our closepetitor Baidwin tech Just currently signed a deal


    with us.This is meant to boost out market and theirs too but i know the question on your mind...why are


    we signing a deal with our rival?....well the contract iI devised is rather tricky, while they produce our


    necessary tech, the percentage they get from us won''t faze us in any way and what we benefit in return


    is a 72% boost in the market which will keep us at the top for thwrest of the year, knowing we don''t


    purchase tech anymore and the fact our tech is now produced by the most prestige techpany, this


    will increase our sales greatly by 21% by December and this is just a year evaluation. So Gentlemen


    knowing we are all legally greedy, this is a deal we can''t afford to pass, all I need is your approval"


    Rachel finished confidently


    "You have our full support and signature" Mr. Aiden, head of the board said.


    "Huh?!!!" Rachel eximed, shocked.


    "I said…" Mr Aiden said standing up from his chair,


    "You have our full support and signature,Anything to keep thispany at the top even if it means

    Rachel replied while gathering her files while the board members left the room.She had to admit


    that it was rather easier than she thought,she thought she would have to do some convincing but turns


    out the n she and Araceli worked for turned out perfectly.


    She headed to her secretary''s office smiling and whispered a little ''thank you to her for her words


    of advice.


    She headed home feeling happy and fulfilled. On opening the doors the first person who came


    running to her was Ace, she picked him up and turned him around while he giggled.


    "Guess who''s going to watch the lego movie tomorrow!!!!"


    Rachel cried happily.
