ZANE, HERE I COME


    Rita’s POV


    When I returned to our department, it was alreadyte to discuss with Evelyn whom was already working and I had my own clients waiting. So we had to wait till lunch break…


    “You spent like forever in his office, we were waiting for you” Evelyn beckoned me after the waiter served us our order.


    “What did you say to him? ‘Yes, I’ll date you’?” Adam quoted.


    “No. That’s what he thought actually” I gave a shortugh.


    “Rita will only date one guy which is Zane even in her next life” Evelyn teased.


    “So uhm, what were you guys discussing in his office?” Adam gaped at me.


    “I requested for a leave of absence which he hesitated to approve but thanks to my beautiful face which captured his heart, he finally approved my request” I announced to them excitedly.


    “Finn approved it?” Adam and Evelyn eximed.


    “Oh My God, I am so happy for you” Evelyn pped her hands.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g


    “Hold on guys; youdies have left me in the dark Why did you request for a leave of absence for the very first time since you have been working here?” Adam inquired with surprise.


    “There’s always a first time” Evelyn scorned at him.


    “I am travelling to Canada” I informed him.


    “Canada? For what? Vacation? Don’t tell me you are taking a break to travel around the world” Adam eximed.


    “Yes, vacation because it’s more like it. I’m going to see Zane!” I informed him.


    “Romantic” Evelyn eximed with her mouthful.


    “Zane what? Your.. – your online boyfriend?” Adam shrieked.


    I nodded and he continued; “Does Zane, my friend ; your boyfriend know you areing over there. You are traveling all the way from United State just to see him in Canada?”  Adam pried further.


    “Nah, it’s a surprise” I beamed.


    “A romantic one” Evelyn grinned too.


    “So you must not tell him” I warned Adam.


    “I… I won’t ” Adam faltered, tryna not to stammer.


    “And you Evelyn, none of you should tell Zane about this okay?”


    ” Sure girl. And I have told you, your boyfriend and I barely liaise; maybe once in a while and it’s just Hey, Hello, Hi, how are you? I mean you are his girlfriend. I have no business having an extra extra conversation with him” Evelyn said.


    “Likewise” Adam said; “Zane and I talk only once in a while. We are no longer intimate like we used to in college”


    “Maybe my affair with him should still bring you both together. Anyways, I am very d that both of you are now acquaintances with whom I’m dating” I smiled.


    “What are best friends for?”  Evelyn said, giving me a high five over our meal.


    “Uhm Rita” Adam suddenly cut in; he stopped eating slowly and folded his hands instead, he seemed uneasy. “I don’t think it’s right you go see Zane” He suddenly disputed.


    “Why not?” Chorus Evelyn and I as we gaped at each other and shot him a hard gaze.


    “I.. I mean, you are thedy in this anonymous rtionship; Zane shoulde see you instead, not vice visa. It is only safer that way” Adam implied


    “What do you mean?” I looked at Evelyn face again, waiting for her own opinion.


    “That’s not a sensible reason” Evelyn snapped at Adam.


    “Listen guys, Ladies don’t make the first approach. It makes them look cheap, Zane will think you are cheap if you take a break from your job just to see him. I think you should wait till hee see you himself” Adam briefly exined.


    “What d’hell are you talking about Adam? We are in the century wheredies takes whatsoever risk and make the first move” Evelyn red up.


    “I didn’t say it is wrong. I said; it’s makes.. them look cheap” Adam repeated.


    “So do I look cheap to you” Evelyn leered.


    “Huh!” I was confused and even more confused; watching their quarrel.


    “I confessed my feelings to you first, which means you pretended to love me too and you only asked me to date you instantly because I look cheap and pathetic right?” She fussed.


    “No, no Evelyn. Come on, I love you so much that’s why I asked you to be my girlfriend”


    “Didn’t you just saydies who makes the first approach are cheap?”


    “I… that’s not what I meant, I.. I wasn’t even talking about you Evelyn; you are different” He stuttered, putting his hand over her neck but she took it off and hissed.


    “I guess you are talking about me then. I am not any different right?” I added.


    “Oh jeez, please; listen guys” He pleaded fervently “Evelyn, I love you so much as my girlfriend and my best friend. Rita, you are my friend too, I will never do or say anything to hurt you two”


    “But isn’t that what you said earlier. Tryna cover it up now like it meant nothing?” Evelyn hammered on.


    “I’m sorry. I take back my words. I didn’t mean it that way”  He bloomed.


    Evelyn and I kept mute but grumbled within.


    “I am very sorry” He apologized repeatedly.


    “Alright” I uttered perfunctorily.


    “What’s alright?” Evelyn furrowed.


    “He is sorry. More so, I don’t take such slight quarrel to heart. You guys also kept it a secret away from me that you made the first approach”


    “Look what you caused; you dickhead!” Evelyn rolled her eyes at her partner.


    “Well, back to the previous discussion” “I have began to process my flight and other stuff, I will be getting a feedback soon. Also, I have been looking forward to this day with so much ns in my head. Whether I make the first approach or not does not matter because I know that Zane loves me so much as much as I do. Therefore, I am visiting Zane and that’s final” I concluded.
