    I jumped up forcing my sword down and as the de hit his I twisted my body turning and hitting the

    Hugh: “I didn’t expect to have such an interesting fight, I can’t remember thest time I had to use


    some technique..”


    “Well a mercenary may be a dying breed, but I still have to train and fight to survive.”


    Hugh: “Makes sense, no war means no business, let me guess you’re more of a bodyguard than a


    mercenary.?”


    We both shared some strikes and backed away. A shortugh in the back of my mind caused me to


    speak.


    Hugh: “If you’re going to fight to survive anyway, why not work for me.?”


    “Ha, like hell. I’m still fighting for your position so maybe you should worry about defeating me instead


    of saying stupid stuff.”


    He lunged forward and I turned my body to the side.


    His head turned to me with his sword ready.


    Hugh: “Alright.”

    I rxed my body and rested the sword on my shoulder.


    Hugh: “Well I could kill you, save me the time, but you still haven''t answered my questions..”


    He had a short sigh.


    “Fine, my name is Red Nova.”


    Hugh: “Red, like your hair..?”


    Red: “Yes, like my hair.”


    He got a little snippy and turned his head down.


    Red: “So get on with whatever proposal you were talking about.“


    Hugh: “You showed promisee work under me..”


    He looked at me.


    Red: “Hah, if you want me to be a soldier just kill me off now.”


    I leisurely pointed my sword toward him.


    Hugh: “That can be arranged but I don’t see the fun in that... it’s not like you’ll be a soldier who stands


    around guarding the city. You’ll be under my direct orders, aiding me when needed.”


    Red: “If you need a maid there are plenty of other applicants.”


    Hugh: “I’m not joke...”


    The crowd was getting rowdy. I could hear some people say, “Kill him already or fight again.”


    Hugh: “The crowds getting restless.”


    I walked over to hit de. It sat there dirty and blood covered waiting for me to pick it up. In the same


    motion I tossed it back to him.


    Hugh: “Here, we can fight some more but once I use my mana you won’t stand a chance, seeing as


    you don’t have any.“


    He grasped his sword.


    Red: “How..?”


    Hugh: “Just by the way you fight. My instincts aren’t usually wrong about these things.”


    The crowd screamed some more and I spoke.


    Hugh: “I can tell you hesitant, but right now you only get three options, we either fight to the death, you


    leave and go back to whatever hole you came from, or you work under me. If you leave my offer will be

    I raised my sword high into the air, the crowd screamed my name. The man bowing on the ground


    before me sighed as if the feeling has taken advantage of.

    Leon''s hand smacked across Hugh’s face. Hugh slowly turned his face back to a forward position, as if


    not feeling any pain at all.


    “How can you think of doing something so stupid?..”


    Hugh''s hands sped as he spoke outrageously at my parents.


    Hugh: “You may not noticed but I’m different, a halfbreed. My sisters are the same but they don’t have


    any indications. Weakness is all they see, that’s what you told me when I said I’d go to the capital. I


    had to prove that I am not someone to be messed with, I needed them to see for their own eyes why a


    halfbreed like me was seeding the throne.“


    Leon put his fingers to the crinkle between his eyebrows. Closing his eyes as he rubbed his forehead.


    Leon: “Look I don’t care if you want to prove yourself or fill your ego but you could have died, and what


    if you lost then our family, your sisters would be in danger.”


    Luna: “Hugh, did you go that far just to prove yourself, or were you trying to be like your father.?”


    Hugh: “I had my reasons for doing it, though fathers method of gaining approval seemed easiest.”


    Luna walked over and hugged her only son.


    Luna: “My sweet Hugh, I know it must be hard, but before doing something reckless just think about the


    possible consequences. You may be an adult and the demon king but we’re still your parents and want


    what’s best for you.”


    Leon: “Just think if you lost then Princess Sylphy would have to marry some other man.”


    Hugh: “Good thing I won then..”


    Luna pinched Hugh’s side.


    Hugh: “Ah, that hurts.”


    He hugged his mom tight.


    Hugh: “Don’t worry I won’t be stupid with my decision anymore. I’ll contact you if I need help.”
