Chapter 1548
The child seemed like a veteran at the wheel and steered it masterfully. She swiftly drove the excavator into Madam Stockton’s
garden.
When Queenie appeared, Madam Stockton turned to her and noticed that she was alone. She asked, “Isn’t Sherrying with
you?”
Queenie assumed Madam Stockton had wanted to see Sherry. She merely nodded and grunted, “Yeah.”
That was when Madam Stockton smiled from ear to ear, she seemed very pleased. She was d Sherry was not around.
Caprice would bolt straight for Sherry if she was here while Madam Stockton herself would be nothing but a mere afterthought.
Besides, the sight of Sherry evoked nothing but sore memories.
Queenie frowned.
Did her mother truly hate Sherry that much?
After Sherry returned to her room, she turned on theputer and settled some minor tasks.
She then took a shower before throwing herself on the couch in the living room. She reached for her phone and began texting
Sylvia.
She was going to use her leisure time while waiting for Caprice to chat with Sylvia for a while.
“Hey Syl, what are you up to?”
After the message had been delivered, there was no reply even after some time had passed.
Could she be busy?
Ding!
Suddenly, her phone rang. She was expecting a reply from Sylvia but it was a message from John instead.
He asked, “Did you bring Caprice home?”
When she took Caprice shopping for food during the evening, she got a call from
John as well. He asked if she and Caprice had reached home, and she had informed him of their sudden change of ns.
Sherry replied, “Yeah.”
John, “What is she doing now?”
Sherry, “She’s with your mother.”
Asudden pause, followed by another text, “What about you, what are you doing?”
Sherry repliedzily, “Chatting with you, what else?”
On the other end of the phone, the man chuckled at his screen. Then he rattled his fingers against the screen again. “Well, who
else are you chatting with apart from
me?”
Sherry replied, “Just with you, I’m not chatting with anyone else.”
Sylvia was probably busy, there was no reply from her yet.
John smirked and asked, “Don’t tell me you''ve been waiting for me to text you this entire time?”
Sherry was made speechless by this bold im.
Where did he get this impression from? Was it because she had been answering his texts rtively quickly?
She replied, “You’re looking too much into it. | was waiting for Syl to text me and | happened to see your message, so | replied
right away.”
On the other end of the phone, John’s coy smile ttened immediately.
He was at the event he spoke of. He had retreated into a corner to have some time for himself.
Several people noticed him and wanted to go up to him to greet him, but as they approached, they quickly noticed his grim
expression illuminated by the phone’s disy. Each one of them turned away as they knew better than to provoke John. This text is ? N?velDrama/.Org.
Ding! Sherry’s phone rang again.
It was from John, “Why were you looking for Mrs. Carter?”
Sherry replied, “Because I’m bored, | wanted to chat with her.”
John’splexion darkened significantly upon reading the text.
If she was so bored, why must she look for Sylvia? Why not text him instead?
He took a deep breath topose himself. Then he smirked as he texted a snarky reply, “She’s not replying, is she?”
Sherry replied, “Yeah, she’s probably busy with something.”
John continued, “What time is it? She’s a painter and has all the time in the world to reply to a text, what could she be busy
with?”
Sherry was bothered by this and asked, “What do you mean by that?”
John pointed out, “She doesn’t want to talk to you, does she?”
Sherry felt insulted, “Look, you prick. Don’t you dare badmouth my friend Syl!”
John reiterated the same point, “Then why is she ignoring you?”
Sherry was getting flustered, “I told you, she must be busy!”
John replied, “Heh... let me ask her for you.”
Sherry was confused by this and immediately asked, “What do you mean you''ll ask
her for me?”
John replied, “I''ll call Mr. Carter. Just so happens | haven''t caught up with him for a
while.*.
Sherry hurriedly dissuaded the idea, “No, | just call Syl myself.”
There was no reply from John, so he must have called already.
