Hearing the noise, Dulcie sat up in bed and asked, Mr.


    Shaw, are you going out? Go to bed early.


    Dont wait for me, Kyson replied lightly.


    Then he strode out the door and drove away into the stormy night.


    Standing by the window and watching him leave, Dulcie felt a pang of unease.


    It was raining heavily outside, and he had left in such a hurry.


    Why would he rush out like this? It couldnt be apany issue, could it? Or perhaps news about the Perez familys extermination had resurfaced online? Or was he going to check on the woman he cared for again?  Though her mind swirled with questions and doubts, Dulcie didnt dare to contact Kyson or ask him about it, fearing his displeasure again.


    Now that he had gone, Dulcie found herself wide awake.
