Before Debra could react, Kale shoved her down. It happened too fast.
Bullets ripped through him, one after another.
"Kale!" she screamed.
He pushed her toward cover. A big tree and fallen logs shielded her.
A bullet tore into his leg. He was a mess of holes, his blood gushing out.
His eyes stayed wide, locked ahead. He gripped her shoulders. "Remember your promise."
His hands slid off. Her white shirt was covered with blood.
"Debra, quit hiding," a woman''szy voice purred.
It was none other than Lara.
She taunted, "We''ve got this ce surrounded. You''re not slipping out."<fn8e85> Content originallyes from find(?)ovel</fn8e85>
Behind the tree, Debra''s eyes burned.
Lara added, "I knew Michael wouldn''t kill you, so I''m here to clean up his mess. You value love and friendship, right? You''d never let them get hurt. How does it feel watching one die for you? I wonder if you can still be this though when your friends drop one by one. I don''t wanna kill you, but you''re a threat. Anyone who endangers our master will be eliminated."
Debra''s fists clenched, her re sharpening.
It was hard to believe a monster like this, ughtering for selfish gain, had followers. He was nothing but a devil building a hellhole while dressing it up as noble.
It was disgusting.
She gripped the gun at her waist, knowing how many were out there.
It didn''t matter. Worst case, they''d all go down together.
She set Kale''s body aside, loaded the gun, and charged out from the tree.
Lara was taken back but soon regained herposure. Ten mercenaries were backing her up, while Debra was all alone.
Debra fired fast, picking targets. The mercenaries swarmed in front of Lara and dropped one after another.
She realized Debra was pulling a desperate fight.
"Kill her!" she yelled.
Undaunted, Debra continued her way toward them. The remaining mercenaries fired back but missed the target.
Soon, she emptied the clip, smoke curling from the barrel.
