Fingertips brushed softly against the panel, and as he shifted away from the wheelchair''s backrest, the armrest suddenly sparked with electricity. Greta let out a yelp, her hands recoiling in pain. "Ah!"
She had to let go of Morris''s wheelchair. The electric shock had her fingers curling like ws.
"Mr. Rond, you-" It was obvious to anyone that Morris had rigged the wheelchair.
Morris looked at Greta with a cold, unforgiving re, a sharp departure from his usual gentle nature. "Greta, I distinctly remember telling you to stay away from my Nathalie."
Greta''s face twisted in panic as she stammered, "Mr. Rond, you know I''m a critically ill patient. Your temper today, shocking me like this, do you realize the impact on my health? Your actions could trigger a severe inmmatory reaction, worsen my kidney disease, maybe even lead to my death."
Morris stayed unruffled by her threats. "Then I guess I''d be doing everyone a favor."
"I''m already terminally ill; my death doesn''t matter. But you, you''d bebeled a murderer, facing thew," Greta added with a smug grin.
Morris fixed her with a steely gaze. "If you''re so sick, and you drop dead in front of me, why assume it''s my doing? I could use you of staging your own death. People like you deserve a verbal thrashing till the end."
Greta was left speechless by Morris''s sharp retort.
That''s when a man from the Sharp family chimed in, "Mr. Rond, picking on a woman is truly despicable."
Morris turned his attention to him. "You might want to get your head examined. Empathy is great, but it shouldn''t be thrown around carelessly."
The man bristled. "Someone like you, all smarts but no morals. I think you''d better
skip joining the Sharp family. We can''t house a menace like you."
Morris''s grip on the wheelchair''s armrest tightened. Being called a menace pricked at his conscience.
Nathalie''s refined features turned pale with anger. She''d never been this furious. She stormed over to the man and pped him hard.
"Apologize to him," Nathaliemanded.
The man gaped at her, stunned. "You dare p me?"
Nathalie, with gritted teeth, replied, "Yes, I pped you. You attacked my Nathan personally. Now, you owe him an apology."
The man smirked, "Ashley, your bullying is disgusting. If I hadn''t been around today, Greta would have been bullied terribly by you. So, I''ll help Greta and get rid of this thorn for good."
"And how do you n to do that?" Morris asked coolly, his once charming face now icy.
The man scoffed. "I know the Stewart family is the wealthiest in the Capital. Butpared to the Sharp family, they''re nothing. If we decided topete for something, the Stewart family wouldn''t stand a chance."
Nathalie shot back, "You''re willing to start a feud with the Stewart family over a woman? That''s just brainless. With someone like you in the Sharp family, it''s no wonder decline is on the horizon."
Greta waved her hands frantically, trying to calm him down. "Please, don''t underestimate my sister. In just three years, she took over the tech industry-she''s amazing. Decfaring war on her is foolish. I don''t want you to offend the Stewart family because of me. If they retaliate against the Sharp family, I''d be to me."
