He looked at Nathalie, utterly baffled. "Why''d you bring her here?" Nathalie settled into the sofa across from Cameron, gently pulling Cindy to sit beside her. She gave Cindy''s hand aforting pat.


    "This is thepanion I found for Nina," she exined.


    Cameron''s eyes nearly popped out of his head. "What is this, the Middle Ages? Nina doesn''t need apanion."


    Nathalie kept her toneposed and sincere. "I''ve been thinking about it, and I realized Nina''s loneliness is why she''s so down. I found someone to keep herpany. Cindy can chat with her, and with the two of them together, Nina won''t feel so alone. Plus..." Her gaze darkened as it shifted to Greta. "With Cindy around, I won''t have to worry about anyone at Dawson Estate messing with my Nina."


    Cameron''s temper was rising fast.


    It was obvious Nathalie had her own agenda. If all she cared about was Nina''s well-being, why pick someone who looks so much like her daughter?


    "I don''t agree," he snapped.


    "It''s not your decision," Nathalie shot back, unyielding.


    "Let Nina make up her own mind," Cameron told Greta. "Go fetch her."


    Greta nodded, shing a knowing smile. "Sure thing." She turned and headed out, soon arriving in Nina''s room.


    Nina didn''t even try to hide her icy stare. "Who let you into my room?"


    Greta was seething but forced a smile, knowing she needed Nina on board for her n. “Nina, I''m your aunt, after all. Is this really how you''re gonna treat me?"


    Nina shot back, "You wrecked my parents'' marriage. You''re no aunt of mine."


    Greta clenched her fists, then slowly let go, swallowing her pride.


    "Nina, your mom''s here."


    Nina''s face lit up with joy, and she jumped up, darting out of the room.


    Greta hurried after her. "She''s brought you a sister. She wants you two to get close. Nina, if you''re smart, you''d tell your mom you don''t want a sister, or you might not be the only one getting the inheritance."


    Nina suddenly stopped in her tracks, ring at Greta. "What business is it of


    yours what happens in my family?"


    "Nina, I''m just looking out for you..."


    But Nina was already gone.


    Greta, not in the best shape to keep up, trudged along, out of breath.


    When Nina burst into the living room, Cameron greeted her with a warm smile. "Nina,e here."


    Nina looked over at Nathalie, a smile ying on her lips.


    Nathalie nodded warmly, and the look they exchanged seemed to say everything. Nina then plopped down next to Cameron.


    "Your mom''s found you apanion sister. What''s your take on that?" Cameron asked.


    Nina grinned. "Dad, I''ve always dreamed of having sisters. I want her to stay."


    Cameron''s eyes widened in disbelief. "Do you know what your mom''s really up to?"


    "Mom just doesn''t want me feeling lonely."


    Cameron opened his mouth to say


    more.

    I Nathalie''s true motives.


    Nathalie was livid, snapping at him, "Cameron, what are you trying to do? Sabotage my rtionship with my daughter? Is this how you parent?"


    "All those horrible things you did back then, I never said a word to Nina about it."


    Cameron lowered his head, shame washing over him.
