    Chapter 4048

James and Dahlia returned to the Soul Realm and arrived outside the Hopeless City.

    ConTEent bel0ngs to N?v(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

The Hopeless City was heavily guarded that day.

Many guards from the Soul Race were stationed outside the city gate.

In front of the gate stood a three-meter-high green boulder with mysterious inscriptions carved onto it.

    "Wait."

    Dahlia immediately stopped James.

James turned behind and asked, "What''s wrong?"

Dahlia pointed at the green boulder outside the city gate and said, "Do you see that green boulder?"

James looked in the direction she pointed, nodded, and said, "Yeah. What''s wrong with it?"

Dahlia said, "That''s a magical treasure created by the Ten Great Races. It''s specifically used to identify

the aura of humans.Once it detects a human, it will react strangely. It also emits a light beam that can

    sense humans."

Hearing this, James took a few steps backward and cautiously stared at the green boulder.

Dahlia said, "Normally, it will only be able to tell that we''re humans when we get close to it.Additionally,

its range can be expanded by a powerhouse. The inscriptions on it will spread out and search for

humans in the area.Seeing that they have it at the city gate, they must be trying to prevent humans

    from entering the city."

James frowned and asked, "Then what should we do?"

    "How would I know?"

"Let''s go somewhere else first," said James.

Now that there was a treasure at the city gates capable of perceiving one’s soul aura, it might be able

to recognize him as a human even though he had concealed his aura.

    "Alright." Dahlia nodded.

The two gave up on entering the city and quickly left the area, heading toward a mountain range

    outside the Hopeless City.

Then, they ascended one of the mountains.

After reaching the summit, the two restored their original appearances.

James stood on the mountain and scanned the prosperous city in the distance. He frowned and thought

    deeply.

Dahlia spoke worriedly, "When the Soul Race captured Grandpa and the other vigers, they didn''t do

it to execute them. They''re going to try and lure out more of our sect’s members."

James turned to her and asked, "Does your sect have any other bases in the Soul Realm?"

Dahlia nodded and said, "Yeah. We have quite the amount. However, the Soul Race were enraged after

Bruce killed the son of one of their elders. In retaliation, they dispatched all of their forces to look for our

hideouts. They found some of our bases andpletely destroyed them. Our vige was one of the

very few that was still standing. In the end, they still ended up captured."

James thought for a moment and said, "Our only option is to sneak into the Hopeless City and try to get

    more information about the situation."

"_..But how are we going to manage to sneak in?" fretted Dahlia.

James shook his head, unable to devise a n.

Since there was a treasure at the city gates capable of detecting humans, they must also have simr

    treasures inside the city.

Even if they snuck in, it would be hard to do anything without revealing themselves.

Suddenly, James remembered the Ursas’ power.

Their power was capable of imitating any other kind of power.

If he could learn it, then he could use it to mimic other races’ soul auras and would be able to explore

    the Hopeless City freely.
